Anyone using 3 bar map sensor on Power FC?

Hi all, I just talked to XS Engineering about thier solutions to the 3 Bar map sensor and also the boost control kit. The answers are no for both. The boost control kit is discontinued and they do not have a non-APEXi 3 bar map sensor that will enable you to run more than 1.2 bar like Eric Hsu was talking about. Anyone else have any solution to this? The nice thing about the boost control kit is that it comes with a 3 bar map sensor so you can plug the stock map sensor onto the Power FC (The white slot right next to the commander slot) for barometic pressure reading. So now I am suspecting that Power FC cannot read barometric pressure unless you buy the boost control kit and use the stock sensor as the barometric pressure sensor. Anyways, anyone using non-APEXi 3 bar sensor on their Power FC? Which one do you use and how do you wire it to the stock map sensor wiring harness?

Chuck

thanks for the info

Thank you all for the info. I am using HKS EVC4 to control boost so I don't need the boost solenoid valve that comes with the boost control kit. I rather pay $80-100 for a 3 bar sensor and do some wiring splicing. The problem is there are many MAP sensor options in the Power FC commander menu but there is not any description on which one is which. I don't feel confident to try each option. The engine is probably going to blow up by the time I am done with the testing. I will email Carl to see what's up. Thanks.

hey chuck i dont know if this helps but this is a reply from eric hsu abt a month and half ago

Len,

If you want to run more than 17 lbs with the Power FC, there are several ways to do it. One way is to purchase the Boost Control Kit. By using the BCC, this will give you the ability to run up to 29.4 lbs, but not the capacity. What I mean is that although the fuel injection's MAP sensor can read up to 29.4 lbs., the maps inside of the Power FC only support up to 20lbs. You will still need to visit a Power Excel shop with the software to change the maps to read up to 29.4 lbs. At the moment, only XS Engineering has the software as they have been trained directly by our Japanese engineers. Other Power Excel shops will have access to the software sometime next year. The other way is to take your car to a Power Excel shop (with the software once again) and they can install the Apex 3bar MAP sensor directly into your engine harness. The third way to do it is to have a Power Excel shop make a custom program using any MAP sensor they offer. This could be a GM, Motec 6bar, Toyota, etc.

Contact a Power Excel shop if you want to purchase a BCC. We do not sell direct to the public.

The Haltech is a great system, but it's a little behind as far as performance capabilities. If you're into tuning your engine yourself, you want data logging capabilities, you don't mind tearing your factory engine harness apart, and you don't mind not being able to put the car back to stock without buying a new factory engine harness, then the Haltech is for you. If you don't mind paying a quality shop for proper tuning and installation (a whole 5 minutes), then the Power FC is for you.

Good Luck,

Edit- im an idiot i jusr re-read your first post...wierd that they wouldnt want to make 150+bux just to tune the ecu...owell best o luck man

Len:

Yeah I tried. I contacted Eric Hsu's company, XS Engineering and they told me it's not available. Isn't that funny?
