Willow Springs Tech Inspection

Next month I'm doing my first drift event at willow springs and I'm wondering if there's anything specific they look for that I may be forgetting. I have no leakage, my battery is secured by a metal bracket, it has no case or box around it though. The terminals are covered too. I don't see any glaring flaws but i may be forgetting something. Any help from you veterans is appreciated. Cheers!

make sure your brake lights work.
make sure you dont have any broken/missing lugnuts/studs.
make sure your wheels dont wobble (bad wheel bearings)

you need a seat belt im pretty sure they check for that.
and a helmet. whatever their ratings are, i dont know. but it's usually Snell M-95 or Newer rated full face helmets.

i may be forgetting some stuff, but it's usually pretty chill. the staff is pretty cool.

I could be wrong, but I think most places [I'm going off Miller here] have upped the rating to Snell 2000.

Everything else you seem to be good on or have thought about.

Awesome youre going to be doing it too this year! Its gonna be a first time practicing in my own car for me also. I hope i can get her together by the end of next month, I'm still trying to decide on which coils I want to get (I'm making a seperate post for that one later). What kind of set up do you have for your car?

just a working seatbelt is adequate. unless you have a fixed back bucket. then you will need a harness as the factory seatbelt doesn't really hold you safely.

either way saferacer.net has a lot of good safety items for sale @ low prices.
Good luck with everything, and just to be safe, maybe try emailing the event organizer, or tech inspector.

they should be cool, and be willing to help...

yeah, i'm trying to get everything together as quickly as possible as well lol. I don't have enough cash for coils yet, i just blew it all on an lsd. i'm running RB shocks with tokico blues, RB sways, strut, braided lines up the wazoo, magnaflow true twin exhaust, and a gutted interior at the moment. and the lsd. i need to just do some tune ups and put my dtss eliminators on and then i'm set. i'll see you there, name's Ryan. good luck!

and buckey, thanks for the help!

if your just doing atest and tune, they dont really check. They just see if your wearing a helment and seatbelt and your good[if willowsprings truck man is feeling nosey]. Unless your going to a Justdrift or 626 event there will be basic techs.

It sucks they raised the price for test and tunes. iT WAS $40 ALL YEAR LONG in 2010.. now its $100

UDrift came out here, and have their track setup in the FD grid area at LVMS.

the course looks like 2nd gear, but im sure they wouldnt care if you started super early and bombed 3rd.

they have rental stock s13's with diffs/coils, and Supposedly an RB20 S13 on coils/welded they rent for like 80/hr or something. i need to go there and actually check it out. just havent really cared as it's open drift at the shop also.

lol yeh im in the same predicament with my GXL too. i'm scrounging funds for a set of JIC Coils, a camber rod and a steering angle kit from Mazdatrx. I got the RB Spring/Tokico Blue HP shock setup on my car too, and a bunch of mods like poly endlinks and ST sway bars and tower struts, RB dual exhaust and HKS intake. changing to alot of new stuff for the clutch n drivetrain, and yeh my rear interior is gutted too. But yeh imma do what i can to get out there for the first day Hope things go well for you too dude!
