I'm in the process of installing my block off plates and **** now between snowstorms and rain:

Remove omp
acv
bac
6 port sleeves
secondary throttle body butterflies
cold start assist tank
vac manifold
All the bullshit attached to the radiator core support that blocks flow to the radiator

I'm sure there's some **** i'm leaving out but my hands are still numb from putting in some work on my shitpile rx7 today.

If this is a street car, i'd advise against removing the ac and power steering. Then again, if you like the manly feel of a depowered rack, look into "how to properly de-power your rack"

The ac and heater and ps stuff alone will save a TON of weight from your car if that's what you're after.

dont depower the rack buy a manual factory rack trust i been down the road with both and a factory manual is better
lose the ac no matter what
all smog, sound proofing door panel and anything powered if you have it the motors to power those things take up some weight go to fixed headlights those things are heavy too bumper supports those are hefty, just bend a weld in some square box tubing to make some bracing against a collision go to light battery
carbon hood or a lighter one
carbon sunroof panel those weigh a ton
i dont know frp front fenders
lose the storage bins, theres more tho

What are you going to use the car for? If it's your daily driver, or your only car, don't mess with it.

Search. Read. Then ask.

If you don't know what that stuff is, you certainly don't need to remove it.

If this isn't a dedicated track car then leave everything in. You sure as **** aren't going to notice the 100lbs of weight you saved on your butt dyno but you'll notice it when your car looks and runs like ****.

Ooooooh. Familiarize yourself with these systems heavily.

I'm still learning myself but that stuff is pretty basic and the omp is probably the most important thing on a rotary because it lubricates the apex seals.

I opted to delete mine because all the air hoses were brittle/cracked and the lines were shot and the omp unit itself leaked. Rather than rebuild, i opted to premix.

Premix is mixing in 2 stroke oil with your gas. One ounce per gallon. You can also premix lightly WITH the omp intact for added longevity to your engine or run a separate tank for omp.

I've probably said enough to confuse you but for real, go do some research, buy a haynes repair manual and read through it, also download the fsm pdf file.

Should tell you what every part does and then some. You'll have to have a well maintained car first and foremost before you start ripping it up drifting around. Drifting is HELL on cars.

ZING.

Also, swapping in a turbo motor is an excellent idea. Hit up Japan2la (is that right?) on here to get you one.

The best advice is RESEARCH, READ THEN RESEARCH AND READ SOME MORE! Anything you can think about doing ... research it first... do as much research as possible pretty much where you are at is VERY basic stuff so this has been covered a million times.. I only tell you that to let you know the information is out there and someone has probably given a write up on it etc... more detailed than you are gonna get from just asking, because people just in general get tired of answering the same question over and over...

about 4 years ago, I didnt know ANYTHING about an Rx7... I read every bit of information I could find read my FSM from front to back and then over again... researched every single thing I could think of...

Heres another Idea that I did that helped...

Write a list of things or "projects" you want to do
for example set specific goals on what you want to do on the car... then research that goal...

Weight reduction
Emission parts
Power steering

Then research them 1 at a time and cross them off ONLY after you have the knowledge that you feel confident in that subject..

Sounds a lot like school huh? Well it kinda IS... If you want to learn something, then you have to study it..Im a firm believer that you get out of ANYTHING what you PUT into it.. If you put in a little time... youll know a little .. If you put in a lot of time then you will know a lot.. Its up to you my friend...

I take months before I move on something.. Patience pays off!!!!! My friends make fun of me because I have had my car for over a year and its not done yet... however When its done I will have pretty much it done the way that I want to .. thats not to say that I wont have regrets and wish I did a few things differently along the way... but when I pull out of the garage again .. I will have so much more knowledge of what I am driving, whats under my hood and how it works etc..

Take your time, read and research then do...

Thank you JDM FC. you are right, I still have a lot to learn and read about. I have a basic understanding on how a rotary engine operates but I want to the engine in depth. Also can you give me or list and links or books I can read to learn more?

I read the FSM front to back like I said, that helped a good bit and is a great starting place... I studied all the diagrams in great detail if there was a part I wasn't sure about then I focused on that part and read about it...

Start with howstuffworks.com there is great information and even graphics about our engine...

You can look at a good write up or at least some information on the break down etc of my motor project... I didnt finish the write up just due to the fact that no one really uses myspace anymore... esp me... Keep in mind the whole time I am writing and doing I am learning.... I hope you enjoy

Also one thing I have going is that this is a project car 100% for me I have no time frame etc that I have to get it done in...

http://www.myspace.com/apostle_7

Also FEEL FREE TO PM ME ANYTIME WITH ANY QUESTION I NEVER CLAIM TO KNOW EVERYTHING...

REMEMBER ONE THING.... ITS NOT HOW MUCH INFORMATION YOU KNOW... ITS KNOWING WHERE TO FIND IT!!!!
