what LSD you running?

First, dont bother posting in here for me to weld my ****. Im not about doing shitty *** mods and a welded diff is a shitty mody.

Ok, I got an S4 TII and in the market for a 2 way LSD. Been trying to do some research and not really finding any good info. Im not lookin at the Mazdaspeed LSD at all because I refuse to pay that much just to have a "JDM" LSD.

Right now, it seems to be between:

Tomei (Does not specify if its for N/A or Turbo tho)
Kaaz (Seems to be run the most)
Cusco MZ

Im not finding too much info on the Tomei or the Cusco tho. Meaning if they are for a TII or an NA.

Info is what Im lookin for. Feedback on if you drove one and how it felt, which one seemed to hold better ect ect.

IMO you have a lot of other areas to spend your money before your shell out $1200 for an LSD. A 5 lug swap and 4 pots would be a good start followed by a turbo drivetrain.

To the OP, Cusco, ATS and OS are all good LSD brands, I don't have any real life seat time with these so I'll let others discuss how they feel.

Well Im gonna make some calls tomorrow about the OS Tomei and Cusco. Another BIG TIME decision maker will be the availabilty of rebuild parts. IF I can get out as much as I want this year, Imma have to rebuild the bitch 2 maybe 3 times this year.

Wow. I have been using the same diff for a couple years now and have not had to rebuild it. Even if you daily the thing it should last a long time, if you change the oil in it.

I run a Mazdaspeed unit and like it very much. I honestly cant tell the difference between makes when driving other peoples cars. I notice more difference in how the setup on it is.

If you have the money. Go with OS Giken.

Double Machined Plates - Billet.

No Break In needed.

They have 0% Failure rate.

If you have the cash, I'd recommend Kaaz, their good solid rear ends. I personally have a welded and have driven on it for at least a good 8k miles. Their really not that bad if you get use to them. Just gotta be careful in the rain. :P

If you got enough for a OS Giken, get it. Hands down one of the best available.

as expensive as they are I think I'm going to bite the bullet and order mine next week.

I fig just do it once and be done.

I know a few people running the Tomei and love it as well.

you can check out the diy welded iff thread i made, it explains how to remove the diff. To summ it up, u gotta drop the subframe, pull the exhaust, unbolt the driveshaft, halfshafts and evrything else, then use your muscles to pull the diff.

ive been using welded and I love it, the bad is that it eats up so much tires even just driving normal as a dd. gayness... 18" tires are expensive. I started buying nexens ! $80 a tire 215s... 17" days was so much cheaper.... maybe someday if I ever become ballin, I can get a legit 2way

I'm running an ATS/Carbonetic 1.5 way. Actually its just getting installed as I type. I don't know how it performs yet but I've heard only good things. i know their customer service is top notch though. I emailed about the factory settings and their carbonetic specific gear oil and I got a call back within an hour with very detailed information on what I needed. So those guys are def there for you. I don't really know if that plays a factor in your purchase of a diff or not but these guys stand behind their stuff
