Vegas NA FC - TurboII drift build

some of you guys may have seen random photos of my car lurking around on here, and since i hardly post on here i figured i'd make a build thread. so... here goes!

i bought it on 7/22/'07 and it looked like this - (i bought it as a daily, and went about it the WRONG way for the first year...live and learn)

it looks clean, but there was TONS of dents! EVERYWHERE!
more dents/broken things! yay!

bone stock.

stock interior minus the cheap-o (but awesome) pedal covers -

first *free* mod - sleepy eyes. and my guard dog. when it rains she like to do this -
my sleepy eyes "mod" kept killing my battery so i tryed fixing it with this -

picked up some S4 lights to replace my broken S4's. mid install.

one side done.

done! (no it didnt take me that long to install them! lol)

i picked up a series4 sport spoiler to help cover the dent on the back.

picked up turboII mirrors off JR, and i painted them so they would look like this -

i also blinged up these -

(im currently editing photos, so stay tuned and this will be done ASAP.)

..and these -

bought an NRG hub off NERDs (albert), ebay hub, and wheel off ncgneto (rob) -

i got pulled over thanks to this -

i got a better job, and bought this non-sense -

spun out on the freeway, hit a barrier messed up my bumper broke my FTP lens, so i fixed it halfassed and it now looks like this! you can barely see my knockoff HID's, and my broken hoodscoop.

here's my "budget" exhaust, and a photo of how my dad and i beat out the crazy dent on the back. it now looks like this -

e-fan, intake, relocated airpump "fake BOV" to under the scoop, and made a cheap radiator shroud. also removed alot of random brackets and whatnot -

drifting the wrong line and did this -

more primering went down -

side view of how it sits today -

PROGRESS has been made!!! nothing fancy, but i've seen multiple FC owners do this, so i did too. hopefully the thermal wrapping makes a little bit of a difference.
we'll see.
i bought this at autozone.

took off my top radiator hose, cleaned it with 409, and wrapped it. it now looks like this

then put it back on, and 'viola'!!

ill post an update once i find out if/how much it helps.

she finally blew up so i towed it to chris's house.
on the way to his house i got a nice $380 fine as did my dad, for "due care" for towing a vehicle in the middle of the day with no running lights, and BY tow strap.
i asked why do they sell them if its illegal to use, and the ***** replied with "why do smoke shops sell crack pipes". so i shut up and took it.

last night at chris brown's house this went down.

today i pulled the motor.

motor/NA trans is in.
heres some photos that i took over the past week.

NA motor out

"rice" pod mounted. still need to wire the gauge.

100% pleather.

TII motor with the USDM S4 top mount on it.

i finally have a "tubro"! lol

BAD/Re-DRILLED AFM! another junk part of the "swap" thats not a swap.

all the deleted a/c crap, emissions, cruise control, etc. custom heater core delete made for me which ******* sucks.

greddy type rs bov. one of the only "good" things from the swap that didnt need to be replaced.

(whitecomet) ray's JDM S5 Efini FC3S GT-R top mount intercooler. (bigger inlet/outlet/ intercooler)

the cleanest engine bay ever. the underside of the hood is spotless. i scrubbed everything for like 4 hours atleast.

atleast it looks good.

rice pod FTMFW!

body work commencing!

i work slower than snails when it comes to prepping this thing for paint. but now im motivated to get it looking good again. the final paint choice is going to be on the DL (down low, for the elders on the board) untill its up and running.

"your turboII" is now living again on "smoke screen" =)

i love this photo for some reason.

deleted my underpocket thing, so i can throw in some toggles, instead of having them scattered throughout the car.

fixing my broken dash tabs, so my switch bezel doesnt fall off.
i wish everything were this far from the steering wheel. it feels much less closterphobic in the driver seat now. =) anyone want to fab up a custom bezel delete??

the motor ended up blowing up the night before an event at one of our local spots. tried to get some runs in, and test out the new setup/coilovers, and the motor detonated after i initiated. it was good for a full week of breaking in/babying/beating/testing, then it must've leaned out and killed all the corner seals...
so i pulled that motor, and thats where it is today.

had a friend stitch weld the engine bay while motor number 2 was getting rebuilt by my good friend chris brown who owns several RHD rotaries here in vegas. he's the owner of vegasrotary.com euroasian motorworks, and area77 rotorworks. he's the go to guy out here for anything rotary/mazda.

rattle canning gangsterness FTMFW!
my inspiration for the build is JTP's car, and the sexy knights FC pictured below.

this is pretty much where it is today. i've done all the work, plus alot of friends helping along the way (minus the rebuild)...
the motor got rebuilt, but unfortunately being 18, and having a shitty job i had to make a sacrifice on the internals. when the corner seals came out, it killed both rotors. so not being able to afford turboII rotors, i had to have S4 NA high comp rotors put in until i get money and decide to pull it back out once it blows.

updates to come ASAP.

that's the plan. i was supposed to pick up justin's aero, but when my motor blew i had no funds for it. i'm saving for a set of VS KF's, or SSR professor's. i had shitty offset wheels for way too long. i hate 4 lug base models.

paint is going to be red... blah blah i know. lol i just like this car red. the sexy knights car, and the driftspeed FC loooked way sick red with gangster wheels, so thats what i'm going to try out.

ps. i liked that purple coupe you posted photos of. i want my car that color!!!!!!!

Nice car! It seems like you have the right idea. Just need time and money to get it there.

On a separate subject, do you know a ***** that goes by the name fceeyah on here? Name is J Rodriguez. He scammed a few people on this forum including myself. He owes me $375 for a plastic wing he sent to me claiming that it was carbon fiber. I'm sorry for jacking your thread, but I want to find this guy and get my money back.

actually yea dude. i'm good friends with him. i never would've thought he would do something like this.... that sucks to hear too.
he goes by JR, his screenname is fceeyah here and on vegasrotary.com .

i'll talk to him and see what's up. his FD is at the same shop as my car is. we're both getting help from chris brown (thecoolestofdudes), the local rotary/mazda guy. he's cool enough to store our cars, and put up with us barging in to work on our cars whenever money permits. let me talk to him and find out the story, and i'll tell him to atleast get in contact with you. ssorry for this dude. maybe he had hard times? i've bought several ultra rare parts off him, under the "pay when you can" basis. he's a really cool dude as far as i know. i'll see whats up.

btw i'm a sticker *****...lol i swear they add extra angle for street swinging.

i'm waiting on funds to do the 5 lug swap, get an safc to tune my 1000cc secondaries, a wideband of some sort, and money for the dyno tunes for my engine builder to dial it in.

i have a turboII lsd, and halfshafts waiting to go in, and once all that's done, i'm going to pick up a set of JTP knuckles, and a super angle kit for my non power rack. ****'s expensive, but i want to do right now. i already went through the trial and error process learning how to get down at events, now i want to make it a worthy car, so i can get alot of seat time in, progress, and see where it goes.

x2.

Are those rota d2's? Dont look half bad. Couldn't tell until i saw the center caps.

Sucks that you keep popping motors. Figure out why your TII leaned out? Dont know much about rtek but do they have real time data logging?

most rteks do have datalogging capabilities, but unfortunately i didn't know this until i purchased a 1.7. it's the factory version, which is untunable.

power racks are for wussies!!! i make it through event's with technical layouts like butter. i love the manual rack. it just makes the engine bay looks so sick, without that nasty *** PS pump/lines going to the rack. if i had wider front wheels it may change my mind though.

yea they're D2's. i took those off so no one would notice right off the bat that i can't afford work's lol.

thanks for the compliments guys! as for the killing motors thing: the na was old and put out of its misery, and the turbo setup shouldn't have been driven until i got a wideband, but being young, and dumb, i had to learn the hard way about that. i figured it was fine, cause i got on it a few times after i put it in, and it was good, and not running hot, good oil pressure, and no hesitation at all, so i messed with it for a week or so, then went to our local spot to lay down a few quick runs the night before an event that i was pushing to make, and as soon as i clutch kicked, and rpm's built up around 6500 i heard the popcorn popping sound, and a real hard studder/power loss, so i got off it, and checked it out. when the seals went out, it killed my turbo too, so now i have an S5. atleast the motor got me home which was about 20 miles away... lol

One day youll remember writing this and slap yourself in the face.

If the engine bay clutter is all you hate, just fin a pump bracket from a 1st gen and it relocates the p/s way out of the way.

maybe. once i get wider front wheels, i'll probably hate it.

yes, i totally forgot about someone mentioning the 1st gen relocation thing. i've never looked into it though.

i had manual rack with vlsd before and hated it. Had to use the stock steering wheel.
I spun out so many times. When I finally got ps, it was alife changeing experience. Now I drift with just one hand.
