I learned from dkwasherexd...connect with a local experienced driver nearest you if possible and just ask questions. From your posts you seem determined...just go for it

i dont think you can learn **** from watching anything. all **** like DB does is make people think they know. you can watch it 1000 times and you still wont be able to jump in to a car and do a donut, never mind drift.

seat time on track = you getting better. added bonus if you got someone as a passenger who already can drift and can point out what you are doing wrong.

end.

The streets is practice for the track. The track is practice for the streets. Just be careful. Learn takeing corners fast with traction and start hitting it faster til you hear your tires sqeuling . Then hit it faster til you have to conter steer. Then hit it faster till you have to full blown take the car side ways.

This kinda my rule of thumb for all the gears. Each one is a lil more chalenging than the next.

1st is for like low speed peelouts and like real tight "U" turns

2nd is for like 20 to 50 mph 90 degree turns and things of that nature

3rd is like long swooping turns at hi speeds or an ebrake pull in 3rd for like 50 to 80 mph entrances..
Like 3rd in a NA you deff need speed to break loose on 3rd I'm no professional tho. I've just fooled around on the streets..lol.. Trying not to get popped for it.

google for some local clubs event organizers and forums i gurantee you there is something or someoen who can point you in the right direction. check to see if any of the smaller airports are used for it. the only one i know that is reualary used is the marina airport down by monterey but im sure there are others

I honestly learned it from the streets...but as a real and honest advice, take it to the tracks. It's safer and you will learn so much. I lost a friend due to stupidity (I was involved...and yes I regret it) and I hate to hear someone pass away from something as stupid as "illegal" racing. So please if you want to learn take it to the tracks.

i'd love to teach you..if you were closer to me that is...there is a perfect spot for beginner's across the street from where i live...i learned from dkwasherexed as well..and with just two event's he said i was getting it down. so if i can do it you can too..

I've been looking through the forum and seeing all the "in action" photos and vids of FC drifting, which (in my opinion) is what they were meant for xD!

I get so anxiously watching the videos that I feel my heart pounding, and that I want nothing more to do than drive my car and push her to the limit - without killing myself, bystanders, or demolishing my car.

Out of fear of crashing I don't... (track record not awesome with my previous cars).

Anyone in my area willing to take the time to teach me?! I'll pay for your gas!!

Thanks AA, man this thing is old I can't believe you brought it back to life!

I never intend to illegally race. However I recently drifted off a cliff and now I'm in the process of getting a DD put together and a separate track car. So I'm in the works and I have an awesome teacher too! Thanks fro showing the love guys!

I'm assuming you're a girl. In which case, the inner lounge rat will now show itself.

Pics or GTFO.

I started swinging u-turns in my old mustang when it would rain... then started taking that same mustang up on the hills and used the mass amounts of body roll to get sideways.

Street, track, canyons, it don't matter where you drift just as long as you do it safely. Hell, today I drifted into the drive-thru at Carls Jr. and ordered a teriyaki burger. Those things are delicious btw.

Parking lot + traffic cone + 1st Gear Clutch kick = Safe practice

Just start driving around it, then pop the clutch, get the wheels spinning and try to do a rotation around it. Then multiple then bigger ones etc...

I already have a couple of spots I can hit up when empty, I just need to get my car working again to get on it.

Having a running car generally helps, unless you've got friends and you can borrow there cars.

Just think, this time around you'll have an LSD to play with!

^ I also said it is still better than nothing. A fluid change with NO LSD additive will also help it lock better.
