I'm bored at work today so I figured I'd throw some pictures at this thread.

Got 5 runs in for the weekend (put the noob end into the wall after straightening at the bank and poked a hole in the rad). It's all patched up, but I haven't had a free weekend to go drifitng since ECB. I've only been able to make it to 2 events this year due to schedule conflicts every damn time.

I'm hoping to run Finishing Moves and RSD @ Poconos to actually get some track time to finish out this disappointment of a season.

Here's some actions shots of me and my buddy Greg freshening up the motor in my other RX7 since it's back to NA now.

I ended up adding hood replacement to the list of projects for this winter... I went out for a run without checking the hood pins and folded the hood up onto the windshield

More drifting, higher ride heights, high offset wheels, broken bumpers, rotary powered Rx-7s near by... it's all terrible.

I stashed it in my basement incase I ever get the itch to go back to the wide body with 300mm+ tires all around.

Probably won't though

I guess I'll kick off the 2014 build with these....

Just put my order in for Part Shop Max's Super Angle kit.

I guess it also means that I'll be swapping out the manual rack for a power-steering rack, and I'll need wider front fenders.

Yeah, I had to order the whole kit and I just boxed up a set of stock knucks to send to them since there is no core exchange policy. As much as I like to build everything I can myself, I'd rather buy a complete kit that works than spend half a season sorting out a mix of unknown parts.

Hope it's as dope as it looks!

I cannot wait to get this stuff on the car and get sliding again in the spring.

I also ordered a set of wheels from VR Racing that should be here shortly. Car should be pretty dope with these, fresh aero, and proper ride height.

Maybe have them replace the inner barrel so it drops it down to a 9.5J

Like a 5" inner barrel

Why not? This set-up will have very similar backspacing to what Martin at PBM runs.

My assumption here is that he's getting maximum angle (or close to it) with his wheel setup or they wouldn't have used his specs as a reference point. Are you saying the outside of the wheel is going to swing into the fender and limit my angle? I never had that issue with the 17x10 CCWs with 285/35s on them (but I also was running a high ride height with that setup)

New front fenders and tubs + tube front end are on the list for this winter since my frame rails are rusted and busted forward of the sway bar mounts .

Worst case I can get a set of narrower inner barrels for the fronts or trade these 18s for a pair of the same wheels in 17s if backspacing becomes an issue. I've got a few months to figure this out before the dirfting season starts back up in the spring.

well i didnt take into consideration that your front lca are pbm... maybe the 10.5 will clear but i know with oem lca and angle mods it would hit all over the place. even hitting the section of the frame rail. the offset isnt low enough but if the ball joint mount is further out, it will allow more clearance.

just doesnt sound like a great size/offset up front, but with the new parts coming out the fc can fit those wheels. what camber and fenders would you run up front?

You're right about the sizing, it's a bit of a compromise (these are pretty close in offset to the CCWs that I had which rubbed everywhere with my knuckles and stock everything else). With the PBM stuff it looks like it should fit "by the numbers," but it doesn't always translate into reality. The rear sizing should be just about perfect to fill out my shine over fenders and I'm willing to work on the fronts to get them to fit too.

I'm not sure what I'm going to run in the fronts for fenders. I bought the fenders I've got now used and I have no idea who made them. When I measure them against my stock metal fenders on my other car they come out the be about 7mm wider than stock...so I think they are just stock copies with a vent in them. If that's true, these wheels should poke about 35mm wider than the XXR setup I'm running now, so with the increased camber from the PBM kit they will hopefully stuff under the Shine 30mm fender (maybe I'm dreaming here) and if not I can always run JTP's fenders and be safe. I'll have to wait and see how it looks once I get the wheels on the car.

diagram looks dumb... i see an axle? but yea any reason for a 10.5 up front? i would ask to have the weds re-barreled so the rear barrel is smaller in width and total of 9.5 -25 offset.

by removing an inch it could make an awesome size front. a 5" inner barrel would drop it down to a 9.5 or so.

just some insight... i have put wheels together and that is what i would do. but yea your car do what you want and those dudes know what they are doing over there it looks like
