Do keep in mind it is possible to get too much oil pressure and cause bearing wash.

I haven't seen it personally in a rotary before, but several Honda and Mitsubishi 4s have had that issue.

Racing Beat was using up to ~200psi in various racing engines.

The bearings were about 2000 miles on the engine though.. Im guessing maybe, Im not getting enough oil pressure. I know my gauge was reading no more than 60psi, and around 30 psi idle.. But thats what I ran all these years of drifting and had never blown a bearing. Anyways just in case, I did the oil pressure regulator mod, and this time it shouldnt have any oil starvation if that were the case.
w00t! 60psi oil pressure? Well that's probably your problem right there! Near redline you should be 100+ psi minimum. FD's regulator will give you 120psi. And just because you haven't had an issue until now simply means you have been lucky.

synthetic usually requires a heavier grade.

my buddy and I have virtually identical cars. he uses 20w50 royal purple, i use 10w40 quaker state. both motors getting near 500whp, both of us are getting about 2 years of road race on our motors then we either rebuild just for peace of mind or because our wastegate flexpipe falls apart and we ride on 26psi (usually 15) for a couple seconds. or on rare occasions because we (mostly me) hit walls hard enough to kink an oil line and break oil bump chains.

Maybe huh? Its crazy how it ran fine even with 60psi oil pressure all these years of daily and drifting. As soon as I tried synthetic, it went to ****.. I know for a fact that a stock oil pressure regulator is supposedly 60-70psi. Perhaps on a higher performance setup, its not enough.

Well with the oil pressure mod, the motor shouldnt have any oil starvation, even with synthetic. 100 + psi shouldnt be a problem.

For those of you curious on how to up your oil pressure. Try this.

Or you can shim the oil pressure regulator.

Im still waiting on my turbo to be rebuilt. As soon as its done, I will be back at the dyno and in time for topdrift.

Indeed. Like I said, I think you were lucky. ;-)
