You coming out to USAIR in october?

Smaller tires are great, although you lose a lil bit of traction up front(I dont run smaller out back and bigger up front some do) the amount of tire speed you get back is awesome. You also gain a bit of suspension responsiveness going to a smaller wheel and tire, as it decreases the amount of unsprung weight on the outside of your dampers.

I daily on 300c wheels, and I rock the FD wheels at the track, that is until i get something lighter.

K!NCH 08-22-08 07:00 PM

I was thinking of running FD wheels. Did you need to space them at all? At least in the front?

I was thinking of just running them in the rear with my 17x8s in the front.

Well I dont compete, and the skid pad I go to I can barely get into 2nd. :wallbash:

But thanks for the advice. Do you run 15s all around or just in the rear?

I used to run fd wheels, learned drifting off that setup. Had 225s all around michelin pilots...
I had to run a 20mm spacer in the front because the offset on fd wheels are like +50. it wontfit without the spacer, it will rub on the coilover.
For the rear it will rub ur exhasut shields, I removed my exhaust shields, and ran a 25mm spacer in the back , bought the spacer soff ebay for about $50 a pair.
on the front stock fenders theres a lip sticking out on the inside, Its good to bend ur inner front fenders flat with a hammer so it wont rub when u swang. and for the rear u can roll it with a bat and heat gun ..thats what I did....Fd wheels make good drift spares and they are really cheap, ppl sell em for $200 sometimes maybe with tires..
My car 2 years ago... t2, viscous lsd, fd wheels, ait aero. paint job done on my driveway... Attachment 705285 Attachment 705286 Attachment 705287

I would run 17x8 in the rear, it would look weird to have biger wheels in front .
Run teh smaller wheels infront... just stretch the 17x8 with 195s or 205s

Ya you need I think it was 20mm spacers but I could be wrong. I didn't like the feel of my 300c wheels in the front and the smaller ones in the back, then again they were heavy wheels and the car didnt respond well.

Seat time, seat time, seat time.

Did you need longer studs?

I put longer ones in and had hub centric spacers. I dont think I really needed longer studs, but a couple of mine were fubard from the p/o so i replaced them all with 15mm longer studs.

noo dont use SLIP on spacers!!! ur guna snap or strip ur studs drifting loll

use Adapter spacers or, something like this.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/25mm-...spagenameZWDVW

theres lots of brands to choose from, honestly dont buy the CHEAPest $40 spacers, thats what I bought b4 and I snapped studs so many times, get $100 ones. I have a pair of TCsport lines and they lasted me for long time. Itwas $100 for a pair..

too much rear tire grip, combined with probably a less than perfect clutch and lsd. i run 17x9's in the front and vert wheels in the rear, and can break 2nd gear loose relatively easy- a LOT easier than the 17's

when i was first starting out i was using 17's all around, and for some reason just couldn't hold drifts. with some more experienced help we figured it was just the bone stock n/a motor could spin the 17's. bought some vert wheels for $200 w/ new ass tires and did work (see signature)

i would recommend keeping the 17's up front though, the day i was running all verts around i was scrubbing really bad on brand new front tires.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I rubbed pretty bad when I ran stockies all around (probably cause I didnt have coilovers) but I run the 17s up front and the stockies in the back and break them really easy.

dude its either look weird or be fucking retarded trying to drift 17s in a n/a rx7, i have done events with my 17x9's with 225/40s stretched and its pointless unless you are at some puss ass track. sorry bro the best look you are going to get and have any success is with some 15s or even 14s with skinny ass tires and alot of psi.

rears with like a 50mm spacer. looks lame as fuck

but at least it can do this

im gonna try for sure

I was looking at some MB Wheels, they're pretty cheap (16x7) just to throw on the back and not worry if I fuck em up or something. Or even some S14 wheels.

lol, sure they will. just dont use 400mm worth of slip on.

i ran a 25mm bolt on in the back and 10mm slip on in the front.

Attachment 705288

oh and IMO if you going to actually spend money on wheels, FD wheels are a retarded choice. they dont look that great and by the time you buy the spacers and the wheels you could have just bought some decent wheels with the right offsets. (FNO1R-C, sportmax, etc)

dkwasherexd 08-23-08 11:34 PM

zilvia has wheels

I agree with you on the last part. I was just looking for something cheap that I could throw on the rear. And its hard to spin 17s with a stock n/a. I run my 17x8s in the front for more front grip but I was wondering what to go with in the rear for some more traction yet spinnable. I plan to boost my car so then I'll run a legit stagger (17x8/17x9 or something).

EDIT: I was looking at wheels by Buddy Club, they seem pretty light. Think 17s would be good for an n/a FC.

RussTII 08-24-08 12:19 AM

well what are you lookng for?
wheels are pretty easy to find and cheap here.

i run 215s on a 9" rim. So, to me, anything less is a waste of time for the rears.

32 or 33 GT-R? there pretty cheap if you dont care what they look like
2 32 rims

man i drift a lil bit and im navert... and suspension was the best upgrade so far i run power by max competition suspension and soon to get the diff welded :) if u need more info on the suspention got to www.poweredbymax.net the coilovers are 1000+shipping makin it 1050 and thier just great with the 10kg springs up front and 8kg on the real and are 10 way adjustable... id seriously look into these considering u can also go LOW!!! check out my ride

Oh any why didn't i say nothing about full exhaust... APEXI N! FTW!:icon_tup:

dkwasherexd 08-24-08 02:46 AM

Im sure 215s or205s stretched in the rear will wheelspin fine with NA. Use nexens lol they dont grip at all and they are cheap hard compound tires that last!!!Find cheap tires that dont grip.. And pump the tires with more pressure, one of my friends even ran 80 psi on the rear tires on his drift car and was able to wheel spin ez with low hp. Im not sure, never tried this setup with NA, but Im sure it works. maybe give it a try? just add more tire pressure...I know thats what most 240 guys do because they only have astock KA with wide 17s...

doood dont forget the powered by max tie rod spcaers, theyre free. 7mm thick, I run em, and it drasticly increases angle. I think 7mm is like the most ucan run safely.... I love their gold coilovers haha

enj01 08-24-08 03:55 AM

man i was considering the spacers too... is it that much of an improvement? and i have 235's in the rear and dont really have trouble... could the streetport n full exhaust be of any help, im thinkin not really but it sure seems like it

Turbo II Rotor 08-24-08 12:11 PM

Do the mazdatrix bolt on spacers, you will get more angle and you will have more threads on the inner tie rod.

boo, the superangle inner ends have an extra 5mm worth machined right into the end. you get the full amount of threads and spacer action, and you can always throw some washers on that if you want.

hope to put mine in tomarrow or tuesday, ive got 3 drift events this weekend! im broke!!
