pretty sure it means man up. lol. if you've got decent upper arm strength, manual isn't terrible. run what you got!if power steering breaks, depower it and run it either until you fix it or just leave it depowered. if you got a manual rack then run it and be happy you have something to drift. you can get used to anything.

With knuckles and proper caster (for LESS steering effort) this could work.

Every time i pop my hood and see a big *** power steering pump and ac thing i want to just gut the **** out.

I've pulled one off of a rex before. **** is heavy and takes up soo much space. MR2 pump soon....... Can't daily without ac in a black car. my man sweat will stain my pretty seat up....

highly doubt full, with the forces by BIG sticky tire. the transitions can never be fast, easy enough for a full day of drifting.

if any of you who are thinking of removing your power steering feel like getting to this point... I would advise that you pay attention to that hand full of people who actually know what they are talking about from experience.

Kinda funny here. I've been to a "drift off" at our local Firebird Raceway, and each "race" only lasted maybe 20-30 seconds. And about an hour apart for about 5 hours. So let's be honest here and state that if you can't work your car for 150 secs w/o power steering, maybe a little time in a gym would be a good Rx.

In my previous racing adventure, I would spend hours in the desert with no power steering going from one corner to the next. WOT for minutes, and shifting many, many times. Average 250 miler was about 3-5 hours, non stop. Spent an entire night driving non stop. Pee'd in my seat a few times.

no time for whiners or girly men...

Seriously, there's not several right answers to this question. Look at ANY FC drift car that's doing well at all. It'll have power steering.

I mean, I guess on a personal level I don't give a **** what people do. If you don't want power steering, go get rid of it and go drifting. More power to you and all that.

I'm just saying I've drifted without power steering, and it was horrible. I will never allow my car to not have power steering.

Hardly. I was "drifting " on asphalt before it was a sport. And on clay only turning left. But that was called dirt track. So there is hardly anythiing 'new' anymore. The off-road stuff is one long 3 hour drift as you never really have traction, and are never straight. Maybe you should try it sometime. It may not be for you because you perspire alot as it takes place in a desert with no crowds.

I try to have an open mind to other ideas and activities that may help me in what I like to do. You can always learn something as nothing is really "invented here."

It's just different. It's not right or wrong. It's just personal preference. It doesn't affect how the car transitions, handles, or anything else. It only affects what the driver feels. One day I might put power steering in my car, I might not, who knows?

I know it's rx7club, but you guys are ridiculous haha.

I also run 17x9 -3 wheels and 235-40 tires up front, and -3.5 camber, and some pretty seriously cut knuckles. I'm also not strong.

Well, i dont know. I haven't tried it. Have you? It's just a theory i had. You can argue if you'd like. I'm learning about things like corner balancing, neutral steer, polar movement and crap extensively and how certain adjustments/settings can make the car behave exactly how you want it to using the input that feels best to you. Jedi mind tricks ****. It's not super important unless you make it so.

No but it will be similar enough to determine if you want to take the time to de-power your rack or not.

Yes really. I have owned de-powered, manual, cut belt, and powered. Manual and powered are my favorite.
