increasing Fd steering angle lock

Did some searching on here, supposedly the fd has around 36 degree steering angle. Increasing it though seems a bit touchy. It appears the guys who attempt it report in having steering binding issues.

I want to increase my steering angle. I'm not trying to go to extreme. Who has a tried and true setup?

Does adding a 5mm tierod rack spacer and aftermarket tire rod end really make that much of a difference? does it cause any binding issues?
