Formula-D Pro-Am Leagal cages

Wats up guys? I'm in the planning stages for my Formula-D/Pro-Am FC. I'm wondering if you guys know if a cage similar to these specs would pass for tech?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

I'm planning on running a Ford 5.0L HO motor out of a 94-95 Mustang GT/Cobra rebuild with ARP and FRPP hardware, centerforce dual friction clutch, Some kind of wide aggresive offset wheels, Stance GR+ coilovers...ect

Like I said I'm still in the planning/saving up ci-zash stage, but I've got a lot of ideas. If everything goes ok i'm trying not to go much over my $6K budget. Any positive comments, words of wisdom, ideas, and leads on possible sponcorship(s) would br GREATLY appreciated

well, the best bet would be to download the FormulaDrift rulebook. no bolt in cages will pass tech.

if you can fabricate then you will understand the measurements/specs of what theyre telling you is, and isn't legal for their series. its pretty straight forward.
i'm going out on a limb here, and assuming you can't fabricate, so i'd suggest downloading the rulebook, and taking it to a shop who can set you up with a price, and let them handle it so the cage can do its job, and protect you.
expect to spend anywhere from $1k (basic material cost) upwards to $3k alone.

the rulebook is where i'd start first though, because there's alot more "cost" involved than the cage which is a main contributing factor to alot of people wanting to step up fully... its tough, however i wish you the best of luck, and keep up with some updates of your build!

rulebook:

also keep in mind that is only for "PRO-AM" events. if you plan on getting to nationals, your car has to fully conform to the professional FD 2010/11 rulebook. there may be a revision for 2011, so keep checking the rulebook.

What would be the biggest difference in this cage vs the 1st one i posted? Which would you guys recommend? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ategory=107070
They're both from the ame company and same price. Which would more considered for drifting?

The ebay cage wont pass fd tech. I believe fd cage requires 2 door bars parallel or nascar style..

Its a nice cage, but wont pass fd tech

thats the broke dick racing cage. you can call them up. give them the specs required by the sanctioning body and they can make a cage that will fit for you. i went through those guys for my 24hrs of lemons cage and the tech guy said the tubing was well beyond what they required.

bd is good people

dont remember.. somewhere around 7-800 to my door.

gotta remember that they send you a bunch of cut up and bent tubes with no instructions or parts list/parts numbers. you have to do all the thinking, notching, cutting and welding yourself. i would not recommend this for a first time cage build unless you have about 30hours of spare time and are really good at welding and general fab work and ok is good enough.
