there are four spider gears, they are what need to be welded. weld the teeth where they meet the adjacent gear.

i have pics of a welded clutch type T2 diff, if youre interested in welding a clutch type

"there are four spider gears"

Pull your ring gear off, wrap the bits you're not welding with wet towel and make those spider gears vanish under multiple beads of filler.

Not kidding. Weld the gears to themselves and to the diff body WITHOUT any gaps. If you see any gears or gap between the diff body and gears, fill that **** in.

The trick is to not leave ANY shear points.

I would never weld something that can be used and rebuilt.....aka oe clutch type but it's all up to you and your budget. Viscous? Weld the **** out of it. You'll see how after you pop it out of the case.
