the top and bottom ball joint mounting holes. They accumulate paint so it makes it tough to slide in the ball joint and could ruin the threads if you try to beat it with a hammer. trust me, i did that and was piiiiiiiised.
Yea the same with mine that zak did for me. One side was butter but the other side had some powder build up. At fit I was like WTF! Then I woke up and grabbed the rat tail file
Also, between installing those rack spacer, the outer tie rod ends and the spindle mod, its deifinitly enough steering angle to have fun on the track. granted my toe out is still more than i want it to be.
Are your tie rods not adjustable?
Mikerbike, they are, but with the rack spacers, they seem to give me a lot of positive toe even when pulling the rods in all the way. I don't notice it, but the fronts do wear a little faster if I'm running a lot of negative camber at the same time.
I'm playing with the camber bolts now to see what I can do to try and negate some of the negative toe. |

Ive been gone for WAYYYYY too long, but i havent been sitting on my ass. Thats for sure.
The car has been at Unique Precision Rotary up in Mt. Airy, MD since April (no fault but my own). Mike has really taken care to make sure that this thing gets the full treatment, and is ready to hit the ground running for the 2014 US Drift series. PIC HEAVY!!!! This is what the car pretty much looked like when i dropped it off in April Attachment 655997 heres some pics of the progression: Attachment 655998 Attachment 655999 Attachment 656000 Attachment 656001 Attachment 656002 And some NEW color is in order Attachment 656003 Attachment 656004 Attachment 656005 Attachment 656006 |

what type of paint did you use for the engine bay and all the engine stuff?
The green was the Grabber Green engine enamel spray paint, and the black was the gloss black caliper spray paint. I wanted to use High temp stuff for obvious reasons.
I think it came out nice.

Finally have the car back from Unique Precision Rotary (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Uniqu...25140480834797), and man do i love it. The team up there knows rotaries in and out, and provide such great customer support, they even will show up on the track and help you pit!
I know it was forever but i should post up the final pics. If i did all this work and then didnt take care of the body, it wouldnt be a proper racecar. so heres the final pics of the build. Attachment 654493 Attachment 654494 And heres the final product. THE LIGHTING IN THE BOOTH SUCKS!!!!!! Attachment 654495 Attachment 654496 Attachment 654497 Thats it guys! stay tuned for the 2014 seasons progress, and my upcoming cage build in the early spring. Attachment 654498 |
Looks good man!!! Put up some videos now.
very nice
Very nice man. Would love to drift a FD but parts and the car is so hard to find.
Rican.....i am still getting used to finding the center again. The snap of power takes a bit of getting used to, plus shes a bit sketch to drive on the street all the time. I am pretty excited to get going this coming season. Especially with the new cage and hopefully a hydro e-brake.
Johnny, Parts are definitly out there, its all about knowing where to look! let me know what youre looking to do and ill try and point you in the right direction. |
Thxs for offer and maybe when I build a street FD I'll keep u in mind. I drift with a v8 s13 and ok with smashing it into the wall. I would cry if i did that In a FD
I saw this thing at 200dod, it looks awesome man.
what size turbo are you running?
ricta, thanks for the love. What were you driving out there?
Infinite, its a GT35R with a 1.06 hotside. Currently at 10 psi until i feel comfy turning it up to 18 in the spring. |
