Considering dropping TII for Vert TII

I am a man of the different, and many changing of my intentions. With that said, and with seeing the Vert @ ASB and a few S chassis vert drift cars, I am considering getting a vert roller and swapping my suspension/drivetrain over!

I would like all of your input and thoughts regarding the pluses and minuses of this swap. I know the vert is heavier and all that stuff, but the vert DOES have a stiffer chassis because there is no roof.

Discuss!!

The vert doesn't have a stiffer chassis.

Then how does the car make up for the fact that it does not have the support of connecting the A pillar/B pillar/rear of the car? Where is that strength and support coming from? All convertable cars have a stronger lower unibody construction to stop the vehicle from torsional torque and from bowing in on itself.

88 TII curb weight is 2850
88 Vert is 3003

89 TII 2987
89 vert 3045

And so on. Where is the extra weight? There is no roof B pillar or heavy *** rear hatch.

Yes stronger than a coupe with no roof. But that doesn't mean the whole car is stiffer.

well why doesnt anyone try to get like a coupe S13 and see if they can base a coupe top for the RX7 Vert from the Coupe S13.. man because i have a vert and i would love to see how nice it would look with a hard top on it..... i know, its far fetched.. but think about it!! the S200 has one and then we have hard top drop tops... im tellin you there are people out there that could do sum like that.. i ****** pay for it.. because i love how the vert has a very wide back and skinny front.. that thing looks so mean when you sit them on theyre nuts.. the guys from slide alliance have a very sexy Vert Rx7... but yea sum 1 see if it can be done.. id pay for it!

i think someone (not me) should try and make coupe out of the Vert RX7.. i mean i know it sound a lil far fetched but i mean if the S2000 has a had top add on then i think the 7 can too.. and if you look at the S13 coupe it resembles the Vert RX7 very much so if one of you guys know a crazy *** fabriactor that can do this... then damnit have him do it cuz that would be a very grogeous car.. and i would in a heart beat pay to have my vert become a hardtop... if you guys laugh at me i dont care... **** WE ALL GOTTA DREAM!!

For a competition car no, for a fun all around car, yes.

All cars have their compromises, you either learn to live with them, work around them or get a new car. Yea it maybe be heavier, so work on increasing power. If you need stiffer, add a roll bar or cage. Either way you need to decide if the downsides to the vert outweigh the plus side of having the top down.

My friend drove the red TII FC vert at ASB. Having a vert in cali is awesome.

verts not as stiff? roll cage. problem solved.

i want to build a vert as my next car, im thinkin s13 vip style. i vote yes to buying a vert and swapping everything over, only if your chassis is kinda at the end of its life span.. otherwise whats the point of stripping a perfectly good TII?

lmao at russ' comment, that was funny

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to adapt to the car, if its something you wanna do then go for it, once you get really good then do what russ said making it even better lol

I was kinda joking.
kinda
i think with a decent roll cage it would be just as goodas a coupe but it kinda takes away from the novelty of the vert top.

WELLLL!!!!! I would hate to stip a perfectly good TII just to swap it over to the vert. I mean my car chassis is CHERRY!!! Kinch can vouch for the shape of my car. Imma stick with my current setup and improve on it.

wow so i bet a *** like you has no kinda fab know how... im pretty sure if we could turn a supra into a truck or a s13 hatch into a truck someone could build a hard top for the vert 7.. but ofcourse a close minded remedial retard such as yourself probably doesnt believe it can be done.

I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying you're an idiot because you threw a name out there with no measurements or any technical info. How do you know the top will fit? Will the B pillers line up with the stock fc body? Is the top tall enough to reach mate to the window frame? The truth is you don't know any of this **** and just thought it was a cool idea. Why not put a 240sx rear suspension in your car? It's superior for drifting compared to the stock fc suspension and both cars are rwd so I don't see why it wouldn't be easy? See what I mean idiot?
