Buckey's Pro-Am Build: '87 Mazda RX7 TurboII

lol there is always that one dude that doubts.
i have $5 that says it makes 350whp minimum with low 10afrs.... but in all reality even "if i hit sub 300" it will be a world of a difference from the stock turbo.
id rather be safe with 12psi than push it with an 18psi spring and ruin my motor because it runs so damn awesome.

it will be upped after FD maybe even before if i feel like swapping springs and going with 18psi - 21/23psi.
i dont really want to push it hard. anything will be better than the HT18 i had @ 17psi.
had to pretty much retro fit every item - but all the hard work is done. downpipe is all spot welded ready for full beads.
1600cc injectors in - Thank you Joel!
Wastegate flanged re-drilled for all 4 holes & installed.
manifold on. turbo on.
drain flanged drilled/installed. -an feed/drain made.
have to take the intercooler to DDS to have the charge pipe relocated and grab materials for the external dump pipe and then off to tuning.
this will be the loudest car this weekend. i can not wait to have the plasma cutter setup.
Thanks to everyone helping out!

some updates leading up to FD Vegas since i was on a time crunch unable to update this.
Made a sweet bash bar with Victor that i was too wimpy to put to use.
Not bad at all for a stick of scrap tubing.
Went to Performance Motorsports to get my V-mount charge piping modified to match the other size. Also had them weld up an 02 bung for wideband. super good fab shop down there that i never even knew existed.
Before/test fitting
after getting it all reworked
Got the car tuned by Steve Singh and literally did 2 pulls and started prepping everything to load it up. ended up deciding to miss out on paid practice to just go wing it Friday and keep the car together.
did 2 practice runs on friday before deciding to sit out and save tires. went into qualifying and when all was said and done landed in 7th overall which i was happy with. it really was the sketchiest feeling not knowing the tune, or how the turbo was going to react/lag up, and just chancing the motor setup but it all worked out. i didnt make it out of top 16 but all in all im happy.
i always looked back last year on my videos at FD Vegas and really kept saying to myself "Wtf was i doing" so this year i wanted to push myself to the next level and flip into the wall like Ueo did against Ryan Tuerck a few years ago when Ryan bunny hopped his car off Ueo's S15. I didn't total my car, and had a ton of fun having a rev limiter for the first time ever, and power to actually "accelerate" during a drift.
Alot of people have influenced me this year, and alot of people have helped out and i can't honestly thank each and everyone of you enough. ending the year with a car thats in 1 piece, not needing anything replaced is a really good spot to be in right before Sema, and will help me get ample time to test, and prep the car for next season which will be 100x better.
I will be going through the entire car again most likely after Sema to refresh the motor, trans, and most importantly ditch the Ebay Coilovers once and for all.
thanks everyone who gave props at the event also. i wish i could have caught up a bit more but it's always hectic, and something is always needing to be done in a hurry... :/

street tuned. this car has never seen a dyno. i want to go tomorrow to get a baseline.
@ 12psi it does feel sub 300ish though for sure. id say maybe 330-350ish.
@20psi it was a rocket but it was spiking to 25psi fast - so i was lifting everytime i saw it hit 20psi.. it hit 20 psi by 5k. 15-18psi @ 4krpm. hopefully mid week ill be able to have some #s if not tomorrow. im curious too.
we raised the rev limiter back to 8500rpm.

ended up going drifting instead of the dyno. the car DEFINITELY only feels like 300hp on 8psi. it spikes to 12psi when the wastegate opens then falls/stays at 8psi. so i definitely will be raising the boost once the water/meth kit comes in.
Got some solid testing in tonight with Garret and his DRTYM30. the 1JZ/13BT sounds together were mind blowing.
I'm really excited to finally be running solid tires and i can't thank @Nexen Tire enough for their support. The N3000's have made my car feel grippy again and the best thing about it is they actually smoke! I'm considering going out to topdrift this weekend. if anyone wants to tag along and hangout/help pit for me hit me up so i can plan and see if it will be possible in the allotted time frame we have to work with.

"holy **** that is loud" haha
Glad FD went well and congrats on the Nexen support. Can't wait to see what kind of numbers you put down once you turn the boost up.

Got to do some runs tonight, and decided to mess around with some timing control. found out how to do backwards entries, and here's some horrible android phone video of it.
Big thanks to UDrift for having a cool venue to hit up on a nightly basis!

this one sucked but it was the first one i did, and it was closer.

good tires make the world of a difference! hopefully going to hit up Adams Cart Track this coming week since broken tranny issues kept top drift out of reach this weekend. if anyone wants to tag along message me.

@FCs4226: i was trying to go for the event tomorrow but things came up and i got a few opportunities to stay back and make some $$ so i'm going to pass it up for now. there's a few events in AZ and CA that i want to do for fun and get back into the swing of things. im finally starting to get back in check with my car after sitting out for so long.
Backwards entries = hatch flipping backwards and smashing in roof.
full missile car mode now.
