ha thats definately 2x or 3x... if it took 9 minutes go to 11 miles thats almost 60 mph avg.. and you certainly CANNOT go that fast on deals gap

there is no passing unless you get over to let a crotch rocket go by which is the polite thing to do. some locals will pull over at one of the few places that allows them to pull off the road, otherwise you're stuck. most big bikes and locals did this last year when possible, there was only one time i had to just sit back and enjoy the scenery following someone. if killboy and some of the other veteran drivers come out to talk to us like last year, which was great of them to do, they'll go over the fine points of behaving yourself on the dragon.
The vid was definitely sped up. But 9 minutes is possible with the right car and tires, but not with traffic. That's a great video, though! Too bad they didn't show the Gap and the NC side, the roads are pretty bad!

Hmm... I was there a few weeks ago. But I can't remember if they repaved all the way to the top of the dam, or just to the bottom.
Also the old Texaco next to the village has been turned into a little nic-nac shop/bar thing.
