I voluteered to print name tags for everyone this year so give me some feedback here folks. The X's represent variable data. The first line is for first names. The second line is for last names and the third line is for your forum name. These will be printed on site on 4"wide by 2" high glossy white labels with rounded corners.
Phil,
I can pre-print some small labels to hand out with shirts. Shirt buyers can just affix the small label to identify themselves. It may be difficult to find a space for car info but I can try if you want me to. That also means ppl will be standing in front of the computer that much longer.
How does this look?

Phil,
I thought I signed up to do name tags again this year, just like last year. Am I no longer needed? Sounds like Jason has it under control. Or, were we supposed to be working together on it?
Jason those look great. The only thing I was planning differently was to use a slight variation of the 2007 DGRR banner on the labels. I was going to preprint most of the names and fill in last minute additions by hand. But if you have a way to print onsite, that is awesome. I will still be there and willing to do whatever is needed.

Hey Holly!
I totally forgot about Jason's machine. He has a termal printer that he was going to bring it to DGRR and print on spot. If you guys can work together that would be GREAT!

I am open to suggestions! What kind of printer and software do you use? I'm afraid to try putting too much graphics on there because the printer is only 200dpi. Also the Labels are 4x2 so there's not a whole lot of space. I am using Labelview and a SATO M8400RVe Thermal printer. If you want to design a 4x2 label and post it up here we can try it and see how it prints out. It will need to have space for forum names up to 20 characters long at least and for a 1"w x 0.5" H box to affix a lunch paid label to.
Jason, I don't have anything exciting for printing name tags. Kristy printed name tags on labels last year, along with separate lunch stickers on a laser printer, using Word to print. We hand wrote all the names in last year which was a slow process at Deals Gap. So preprinting with names or a database of the name to select would be great. And having the sign in earlier this year, as soon as we get to the area this year, would probably be better, instead of waiting just before lunch.
I spoke to Jeremy today and he said he would get the DGRR banner he designed in a smaller, simpler format to add to the labels.
How does all that sound?

this sounds good but youll need a longer list other than those who purchased t-shirts. Im sure there will be people who bought shirts who are there for the ride, and not necessarily forum members. will you just do who bought then +1, +2 ect. ect?

+1 ( for the friend)
or is this the purpose of the print on the fly deal, just might take alittle more time ya know?

The others that are prepaid would just get a blank label to handwrite in their name, showing they are paid for lunch. Or, Jason may just have a way to type the name in the computer and just print it then. Everyone that paid for a t-shirt will get lunch, so they must have a name tag.
This is my plan: I am bringing my laptop and the printer to DGRR. I will have it set up with a full size keyboard and a mouse so ppl won't be needing to touch my laptop (which will be cable locked to... something sturdy). When someone walks up to the pc there will be a prompt to enter thier first name, last name, and forum name. After that all they have to do is hit enter. The software will print the name tag and clear the data fields for the next user. So, all people are gonna have to do is type their names and hit enter then the printer and software will do the rest. The printer will even cut the label off automatically so people won't have to tear them off.
I will also pre-print about 250 small "Lunch Paid" labels that will be handed out with the shirts. All shirt buyers can simply affix this label to their name tag and they will be easily identified come lunchtime.
The banner sounds good Holly... I'll try to print it as soon as I get it.

Jason, that sounds perfect. I will be there to help out then. You have it all under control. I'm waiting to hear from Jeremy for the banner. He said it should not be a problem. If he has any questions, I will ask him to contact you directly by PM.
Thanks Jason,

Hey! Not like you two aren't gonna have your hands full as it is but.... heh. How hard would it be to do car tags also. If everyone is wandering around looking at cars it might be cool to be able to see what belongs to who. Nothing major just car year model and owners forum name maybe.

I like the Idea though.. maybe people could print out an information sheet at home and bring it with them to place on the dashboard of the car or someone could preprint some forms and hand them out for people to fill out and post in their cars... I'd say, make a new thread and suggest it!
Not a bad idea at all. I think the handout or down loadable form would be great and just have people put it on their dash would work. Cause yeah it is kinda hard to tell whos car is whos. Even with name tags that say what car you drive. There probably will be 10+ Red 3rd gens.

Could just put up a generic thingy that everyone could print out at home and fill in the blanks or.... go crazy and be all fancy and stuff. Just as long as you have a seven at the meet.
LOL, The 7 definately comes first but, I sure won't stop you from making these! Someone should probably run it by Phil so he's in the loop. Although, he will probably read this anyway.
I been following this.. I'm totally find with it as long as:
1. Everyone remove it from the front wind shield when driving.
2. Make sure no one just throws it on the ground and make a mess of a place.
Besides that, I have zero problem with having a sign on the car.

For the name tags and whatever goes in the windshield, they should all match the Tshirt I think. Maybe put the dragon and text on both just to tie them all together. Let me know if you need the logo in what format. its in .eps format vector line drawn for the sharpest image. Or we could all just work together and get it done.

please PM me with graphics or email me: perkystina@hotmail.com
I'm going to work on them tonight. I can even print them up myself and bring them to the event so people won't have to remember one more thing to pack.

Like Greg's idea of being able to connect a forum member with their car. Just define what information should be on the car tag and let everyone create their own version.
I still think we should have an owners award and present it at the banquet to the car that gets the highest number of votes from the attendees. That would probably be two votes since most everyone would vote for their car. The criteria would be everyone competes and vote for the car that represents your ideal of how a rotary should be restored and maintained. We'll have one Rotary Owners Award for the entire crowd, all rotaries judged together. If anyone has a old rotor I'd love to mount a dragon on a rotor base and add name plates to the trophy like they do the Stanly Cup. Once the first rotor is filled we stack it on another rotor.
Phil, think we can get a bad rotor from one of our engine builder sponsors? I'll check and see if our members have old rotors laying around. Just an idea.
