I'm sure those of you who attended 2005 and 2006 event knows about the Group Leaders (GL)..

I need at least 10 volunteers for this...

Here are the requirements....

NO one under 20 can be a GL
GL much have previous DGRR experience or Track experience
GL must understand the dangers of the Dragon.
GL must be responsible for leading a group of 5-6 cars
GL must HAVE control of their groups!
GL must wake up early in the morning to do early run thru the dragon to check on the condition and such.

If you are up to it, Please post here and what kind of experience you have.

I can if you need me if not I'm good with that too!! If you get enough I'd be more than willing to let someone else lead. Honestly I hate leading I never know if I'm going to fast or not fast enough, but I will if you need me.

 

Same here Phil. I can lead a group again if you need me to, but I only plan on making the one run through after lunch and then taking it easy at the lodge! I get up there often enough to fill my need anyway!

 

how are the groups going to be divided up? i'm interested.

 

All the attendees of DGRR wanting to run the Gap needs to run at lease one round trip with the Group leaders (5-6 cars per group). But prefer that they stick with a group instead of on their own.

Also the groups will leave 2-5 minutes apart to give enough space between the group.

 

Phil, I'd be willing. I have been to both BMW and Porsche driving schools. I was also Lead Gun Truck for convoy's in Iraq, with 30 trucks behind me to keep track of. Let me know if I can help. I have NOT been to Deals Gap.

 

Well, I can't quite stand up to Moejoe there, but I did go through last year. I was the one car that spun, so I do know full well how dangerous it can be and would be completely willing to lead a group....and this year, no spinning.

I need 3-4 more volunteers..

All the volunteers must meet me early saturday morning and willing to go up to the Dragon and check for road conditions. Last year, some of the leaders had to move trees and branches out of the road. Also, we'll go over what you guys need to do when leading a group.

 

Yeah hopefully a Tornado won't come this year, and we won't have to worry about moving branches.

Phil I can do it again this year if needed. Previous two meets at Deals Gap, HPDE and Autocross experience, worked with an IMSA/SCCA team in the 70s.

I have a suggestion for this year, we should assign GLs over people we may or may not know on Saturday's driving adventures, so we have new faces to help with joining everyone in fellowship. Kinda like the whole idea behind a mentor or camp counselor.

Corny, but will really make the newbies feel welcomed.
