Me. new tires, changed PS fluid, checked compression, changed spark plugs (rear leading wasn't sehr gut), and plug wires. Running smooth and leaving late Saturday/ early Sunday. The plan is to be in Bryson City before noon.

You got it!

Not to be foreboding but if anyone has an FD Alternator or a DC Power alternator... or really any S5 FC or FD alternator that is in good condition - would love get pick it up from you. My FC Alternator is getting the job done at 13.5v - adding a resistor on Monday before I leave - will be up there on Tuesday.

I might have an FD alternator, I can check when I get home. Bought from Rock Auto a long time ago and it came with a broken post. They sent another one and didn't want the first one back. The funny thing is, when used in an FC, I remember it being better to just switch posts. If you've already got a bored out pulley, this could get you by after a pulley swap.

Already have the right pulley should be a straight forward swap. I also have the banzai FC alternator belt tensioner so running the FD alt saves me from having to drill out the threads.

Confirmed that I have it, and confirmed the post is broken. It's sat in my garage for years, and never been installed in a car, so there is no reason it shouldn't work. However, Rock Auto shipped me a new one and I paid the low price of $0 for this, so I will bring it and donate it to the cause.

Now ain't that a fine howdy do. Left yesterday about noon. Car is running great, but then my oil pressure gauge starts to fluctuate between about 45 psi to 60 psi. Not an emergency yet. About 300 miles down the road I pull in for the first fuel stop. Oil gauge drops to maybe 15 psi, OK now panic mode. Restart the car after fuel and the gauge jumps right back up to over 30 psi where it should be, puzzled I am. Thinking it's probably the sensor? Turned around and headed back to the shed as I have no desire to be 1100 miles from home and searching for an FC engine. Halfway back it started registering in the normal range again, both at speed and hot idle. SOOO... I will be coming in my purple 99 Dodge dually even though diesel is stupid expensive right now. If you see the bummed out no running rotary guy in the behemoth of a pickup wave as you go by. I think I can still make it by Monday, but no guarantees on what time Monday.
.
I need a beer already.

That sounds like a failing sensor to me, but I wouldn't risk 1000+ miles on that. If you're towing the FC there with your dually, I'll bring along my mechanical oil pressure gauge (cheapo Horror Freight test kit, but it works) so you can test the FC.

Just got back last night, as you know I didn't trailer the car there. I'm hoping that you are correct and it is something that simple. The hidden silver lining is that I picked up a parts shell from Brett in Georgia to provide most of the bits and pieces that I need for the SA. I got smart and took Sheryl's advice to just rent a U-Haul trailer to get it back here. She's smart, I'm dumb. I had a blast regardless.

Will the RX7.5 be ready to rock next year?

I'll throw down with my RX986.

I'm hoping so. Even if it's not in paint at least get it to the point that it is drivable. I believe that I have most of the major pieces now.
