Any shots of the award winners and their cars this year?

 

I drove thru Deal's Gap on Thursday for the 1st time ever. A lot of traffic, which was fine. At first. It was an education of a sort. I got my son up at dawn on Friday and told him we were going driving in the rain, with nobody else around. When we got to the Tail, I told him if anybody was out snapping pics in this soup, I'd buy 'em. On the way back to NC, one was. Here they are, as best I can show with my limited skill set.

Whew, where did all those childish negative DGRR threads come from? Those boys must have been drinking pretty heavy last night.

Paying the registration fee is simply the honorable and decent thing to do. Those who decide to cheat must live with themselves, penalty enough.

Concerning the lexus boinger in that FB, I looked at it, but it hurt my eyes.

Mechanically, it was very nicely done. But esthetically, it just doesn't work.

For one thing, it takes the elegantly simple FB engine bay and makes it look like an RX-8.

Then there's that big old Lexus logo sitting on top of the engine. Call me an FB bigot, but I always associate the word "Lexus" with "Lexus Lane" and people who have too much money. FBs are for people with too little money.

And of course, it's a boinger where a wankel ought to be.

Still, once my eyes stopped burning I went back and looked at it again. And then again. And yes, it was very nicely done.

 

Nah, they're just childish IMO. Everyone else's fault but their own. Didn't register. Didn't want to register. Offended they were asked to register. Apparently there are stories of Phil being some kinda hard ***. They claimed they didn't know process for registering. But its only been a 9 year event that has its own subforum that a few hundred people support. And then other people say they never register...blah, blah, blah.

Next year will still be awesome for almost all of us. But certainly won't forget those idiots on here or anywhere else.

 

so..who won the car classes?

 

Robert won the 1st gen class, third year in a row. Us FB folks are going to have to do something about that next year!



Up and coming Bob took third place in the SA/FB division with his pristine stock 83 GSL, not sure who got second:



There should be more classes in the 1st gen category, should be:

1. Best mostly stock SA
2. Best mostly stock FB
3. Best modified 1st gen
