Yes,originally it was set at a 30 minute limit.
It was a "trial" in which it was turned off..
During this time Staff noticed guys going back into FOR SALE Threads and editing out their Original Posts, which include the Prices they stated for items.
This was Unacceptable.
The Time limit Was in place so Members could not Change the original Post after 30 minutes,so no Hanky Panky could happen after posting...Ie: changing prices in an original post after a Sale.
30 minutes is plenty so you can fix your typo's etc.
SO,Now it is back in Effect and STAYS.
Thanks for your Concern Jeff, and you have a good "eye"..!

Oh, ok I gotcha.
Now I'm wondering whether the 30 minute limit can be customised for just the FS threads or does it only work across the entire forum? It'd be nice to fix a typo the next morning in a technical thread I may have missed the night before. Would I need to be a moderator to do that?

Very funny, but let's be clear, the edit button was a useful feature. It's removal is disappointing and a loss for all members.

It'll be fixed. What STYX was talking about it there was a setting that was messed up that was letting everyone edit their threads at any time. We don't want that (for classifieds, especially). The setting was returned, but it seems like allowing edits for some period was not set.
I've let an admin know and he'll take a look. It was not intended to fully disable editing.

Thanks for the clarification. While I recognized that the issue under discussion related to the editing time duration, my comment was related to the implication that the current situation (no editing) was potentially a standard under consideration. Now I know better.
