we need a better new user registartion ..
We are getting way to much spam bots posting around the forum randomly each day. Some posting **** images and such. Can't we have a better way to validate that its a human registering than the current way we have?
Just a suggestion.

CATCHPA works really well through myspace and facebook. Alot of other forums are using CATCHPA. I don't honestly remember if we are using CATCHPA, I did register over 4 years ago.
just as a sugestion facebook now has a system that in order for you to be able to register and send messages they send a text to your cell phone and you actually have to write whatever code on the computer to be able to proceed. I think thats like ultra massive security there!!! ive actually never received any spam there either so im assuming it works. just my little imput

Well we could have multiple ways of registering, each that would be hard for a "bot" to cheat. The person registering could choose what one to do just in case they didn't have a cell phone, didn't receive text messages, or didn't have speakers. I have registered for a couple sites that make you listen to a string of letters and numbers that you must type in. That one sounds pretty good. I like the txt message one, and I think the having to put in a registration code on the validation email should be a for sure thing if it hasn't already been implemented.
Yes, it will make registering a little harder, but you only should have to register once. After that, not having to put up with all the stupid spam bots your whole forum career would easily make up for it.
