Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
See I asked people to justify the section and come up with valid reasons for its existence.
Yet, the majority of members said, "Oh you'll never change it back". In fact some members thought they should start spamming about it over the last weekend. Throwing childish fits, they almost blew it for everyone and pissed off all the mods. In fact when I came back online Monday there were several mods suggesting that the section should just be deleted altogether if members were going to act like they did.
And if you remember, it was like pulling teeth to get an intelligent, clear, valid reply/answer from members on the section.
So once there were indeed a few clear answers; almost all the mods and admins got together and discussed the issue over the weekend and on Monday we came to a decision.
I would hope that this example would show that in the future, that members that don't like the way something goes here would instead of acting like they did, would instead post clear, concise, valid, and thought out reasons, so it can be discussed by the mods and admins. And that they would remember that every single change of this sort is discussed over a couple of days by the mod staff, and that nothing will happen overnight.

Exactly. It was ALMOST deleted because of the 2-3 threads generated over the weekend. Who would've thought that a section of a car forum being changed around would get so many people upset?

Though I never read it or post it, I am glad to see that it was put back. I think it would be super gay for this forum to become like rx8club and have a very odd zero tolerance policy for the mere mention of street racing. I never understood that, save for the fact that most rx8s couldn't kill anything to begin with. I don't believe in organized street events but I see nothing wrong with a short impromptu contest when conditions allow. It's a chance for adults to judge and take, that can either have no significant consequences or very severe consequences depending on your luck. Just like having sex with someone you just met, buying a car without inspecting it, investing in the stock market without knowing what you are doing, or buying stuff from people over the internet that you may not be able to trust.

Cause it comes down to lawyers...
Someone must've pointed out the liability aspect of having that section up.
Just look at the nasty disclaimer tagged onto the section now...
