Suggestion: Build Threads Section(s)

I really think this would be a great idea. One build thread sub-section for each gen.

One car per thread. Seems to work well on other car forums.

I really like this idea. Maybe have it set up so each individual generation has a sub-section for builds so people that just want to look at build threads for ideas for their generation don't have to sift through all the others.
This will just help this board stay competitive and up to date when compared to the other boards out there.

would be a good idea for a build/fabrication thread, but what would rules before it.. or would it be like a anything goes thread? maybe once u post you tell what is being done, how long it has taken, what you plan to accomplish by doing what you are doing? just some suggestion.

anything goes.

basically, you post updates on your car. as much, or as little as you want. pics, no pics, whatever. people can comment with questions, suggestions, criticisms, anything goes.

it works on other sites.

I think it is a good idea, but I also understand this point of view:

I really dont want to click thru 10 build threads filled with unpainted aero, frog lights and knockoff wheels just to find 1 person doing something decent.

I've got an idea, how about users have to submit their build thread to be voted into the section by people already in the section. Anyone can post and ask questions and read, but only selected people can have their build threads posted there. We could start off with people like Rich, Gordon, Herblenney, and some others who already have mostly completed build threads.

i think everyone should be allowed to have their own build thread. if it's littered with half-assed build threads, so what. the good ones will stay relevant towards the top, and the crappy ones will get burried. no one is forcing anyone to read everyone's build thread, you just check the ones you like. it will work itself out. adding rules would just ruin it.

Tell you guys what...

If someone will go collect me a list of existing build threads, I'll create the new forum and set it up. Then if there winds up being enough different threads to justify splitting it out by generation, I'll do that too. But before I create anew forum for you guys, I need a list of threads that fit into this category to see if there's enough threads to justify a new forum.
