sig/ava image filesize restrictions

Are we stuck in 1999?

I don't see any point for such low image size's, my sig takes one second to load for me, and maybe 10sec max to fully load for people on **** poor dsl.

People that are still on 56K or don't want to waste bandwidth on images, theres always

You have the option to show or hide various elements of messages, which may be of use to users on slow internet connections, or who want to remove extraneous clutter from posts. Show Signatures
Show Avatars
Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)
Reason: Signature Rule Violation
-------
Your signature is 1584.49 KB (1622516 bytes) The maximum allowable is 19.5KB... please fix it or it will be deleted with no further warnings.
-------

This infraction is worth 1 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire.

All the best,

19kB?
Also the avatar size limit is rather tiny.

Not sayign **** to you icemark btw, I was going to complain about the avatar size, average internet speed around the world can download my sig in 3sec...

I don't think sig images should have a filesize limit, just width/height limit.

The user does have the option to eliminate sigs and avatars. But you must ask yourself this:

What if everybody had animated signatures in the 300k/400k/500kb range? You would have some SEVERE lag. I am experiencing this on another forum, and it's only one signature doing it to me. But I don't say anything about it, because there is no restriction's on the signature size.

Avatar's will stay the same always. The limit it is at right now is perfectly fine, it does not need to be any bigger.

a mg and a half is too big cmanns like it or not

If we only had 25 or 50 people on the board at a time, then maybe it would be more acceptable, but that there is generally 10 times that (250-500), if everyone had a signature that big there would be major issues.

Just think... looking at a page of threads where everyone had their signature as big as yours was... that would have been 37mgs to download (or if you view 50 posts per page as some members like myself do- it would be 75MGs of downloading for each page... doesn't matter how fast you have a connection with that much to download.

So that 3 second down load for your old signature would be 2.5 minutes of downloading just signatures per page.

yeah people would like that...

Also many of us are phone browsers too... even with 3G normal loading can be a bit "laggy".

Personally I think sigs should be text only, good thing they don't let me run the show alone.

PS - Take that crybaby **** out of your signature, it just makes you look butthurt.
