Set a maximum photo size overall on forum

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, (probably in association with mobile viewing of the forum or others who have slow connections.)

I have seen other forum's set the limit for your photos. I usually have no issues when I am on my pc since I have a 24" widescreen but with laptops the side scrolling is annoying not to mention the bandwidth it eats up loading each page.

No need for larger versions when you can PM the individual if you want a larger version for wallpaper or their permission to print the pic. Something like 1024 should be the max.

I think 640x480 should be max so as to not to break the tables. You figure minimum resolution is 1024x768. With space for avatars and user info on left, 800x600 should be fine but I think 640x480 to be safe and to save on scrolling past photos.

Andy,
I think with the size screens people are using these days 1024x768 is perfect, if you limit it too much a lot of detail will be lost. I agree with Damari on this. I'm tired of having to scroll to the right to read what people post. I'd like to see a size limit as well.

1024x768 is still a common resolution for monitors, so that size for a picture is simply too large. I don't want to look at a picture the size of my monitor.

800x600 fits perfectly, and I would like to see that as well.

If someone wants higher res, they can always link to them.

I know what you're saying Dan, higher res pics are a must. We use higher res desktops but I'm going by the minimum size for the forum tables. If you expand your browser window all the way to the right and then to the left, you see the forum tables stop shrinking at around 900 px. 640x480 will conform to this and I like 480 height for scrolling oast photos. I run at 1920x1080 or 1200x1600 but I really like the default forum width for reading. I never have my IE windows full screened. When I see large images breaking the tables I go nuts. I think higher res pics should be linked or at least displayed at a lower res until it gets clicked on. As devices like the ipad (1024x768) get more popular, I'm sure alot more people will accomodate lower res devices as well.

1024x768 is losing out for now though...
