For Sale Thread Approval

I don't know how much spam this catches or does not catch, but it is a GIANT pain in the ***.

I make sure to follow all the rules, post in legible english, I have pictures, asking prices, all the correct thread tags, and over half the time, my thread doesn't show up within a few days, while threads like this: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-rx-7-1986-1992-parts-194/lt1-swap-fast-stand-alone-861419/ somehow get approved? That's crap.

My suggestion is that you ditch the approval for that section, unless it does do a lot of filtering (which I obviously can't tell). If that's the case, perhaps you should put someone in charge of it that won't come back every two or three days and hit "Deny all".

As usual we find in these reports that you were not following the guidelines. Your 2 FS threads that you had submitted in the past were not approved because you did not use the location icon. This is one of the requirements as listed in the many sticky threads at the top of every classified section. Then your WTB thread that you last submitted only took 1.5 hours before it was approved so i don't know what your complaint is?

The system is in place for many reasons and it is working and here to styay. So follow the guidelines and your threads will be approved.

Regarding the thread that you mention. It states that it is a trade and what they want to trade for. Kind of sketchy but if you read it correctly you know what they are saying.

Almost positive I used the location icons, and there are plenty that sneak through without them...maybe not in the 2nd gen section so much, but definitely in the others. It's not like I don't have my location on my profile, too. Thanks.

I have verified and Doc is correct that you were missing the location on those threads. In the main classified sections, all ads should have the icon. Only exceptions would be:

1. Ad dates back to before the use of icons (very rare case by now)
2. Person is international (no icon available), so they have location in the thread title
3. Person in the US, but they have placed location in title instead of using the icon

In the case of point 3, I will normally go ahead and add the icon even though it is not really needed. It makes it easier for buyers to scan down the left side and quickly see items that are nearby. This is especially useful when dealing with larger items.

We don't ask for much: select FS/FT/WTB, click the location icon, list your item(s), and put an asking price. If you do those things, it'll go right through 90% of the time. The other 10% would be deleted for selling for a friend, posting your ebay auction, already have an open thread for that same item, etc.

Just take your time when posting the ad and make sure you have everything covered. I know that some people try to slap something together as they are rushing out the door and end up forgetting something. If you make sure you have met all of the rules, you also won't be sitting around for a couple days wondering why your post isn't showing up.

ahhh good old rx-7 club bloated bureaucracy. I haven't missed this part one bit.

Glad to see you've changed policies to start giving in depth replies, though. Gotta give ya that much.

If you don't like it you know where the door is.

What made you come back in the first place, I thought you were done here?

Seriously though, by making it a little bit more of a hassle we have nearly eliminated fly-by night scammers and spam postings. What do you really want? If you want a forum with no rules and regulations they are out there and we hope you enjoy them. If you want a little bit of structure and order then by all means you know where to go.

Many of the policies enacted have been a result of the voices posting in this very section asking for change and order. Sometimes I just don't think you some of you get it and there is absolutely no pleasing many of you.

Lol wutsadoor

I don't recall saying I was done here any time in the past like 3 years. I just trailed off coming here because I was spending time on PAFOA and I was spending more money on guns and ammo and I haven't even seen my 7 since May.

Meh...

Anyway, people like to bitch and complain. I never said I disagree with the approval system, though I do think it'd be nice if the high and mighties would PM people when it's denied, and why. It's pitifuly easy to overlook the location tag, it's not malicious, it's just an oversight. Of all the Classifieds threads I've started, I don't think I've ever rememberd to put the location tag there. Thankfuly a mod with enough sense pm'ed me and said "hey man wtf." and it was straightened out in two PM's or less.

Seriously, Doc literally would have spent less time sending the OP a simple PM when the ad was denied than he had spent on replies in this thread. A model of efficiency it is.

When the changed happened, we would typically fix the issues and/or PM the seller. We did this for months. No matter how much we did this and how many annoucements we put up, the majority of people still were not doing it right. After doing this for many months and having the annoucements about the process posted for even longer, it was decided to just remove any posts that didn't meet the rules.

It seems as most of you think this is an occasional thing here and there, but in reality I would say that currently 30-40% of the posts do not meet the rules even though this setup has been in place for quite some time. In addition, it takes a lot of extra time on our side (which we donate for free) to PM all these guys that didn't follow the rules and it also would delay the approval of the ads that did follow the rules since we are spending time that we could be using to approve threads to explain to someone that they didn't follow the rules. I know that I used to spend about 4-5 hours a day fixing these things for people, sending them a PM saying "Hey, you forgot this. I fixed it for ya. blah blah blah". It would take longer for the good ads to get approved since myself and others were fixing problems instead of approving the good ads.

Really, this process is a lot more work for us than it is for you, but it works. Spam is gone, most of the scammers are out of there, the place is organized so you can easily find what you need (location icons, WTB/FS tags), etc.

It is way better than before. Previously, you never knew if items were a WTB or FS. Some people would have titles like "TII engine". You would have to go in and figure out if they wanted one or if they had one for sale. Then half of the time they didn't put their location and their profile would have "here", "under the car", "above the center of Earth" or some crap like that so you never knew if the part (engine, car, etc.) was within a reasonable distance to you. Now you can scan down the left side, see things that are in your state or a nearby state, see if the item is FS or WTB, etc. without even clicking on the link.

So when you start an ad, pull up the rules and spend an extra 30 seconds to check that you have met all of the rules. Your ad will be approved and it will save time for everyone. It isn't hard, guys.

In regards to sending pm's when their threads are not in compliance. Actually it takes more time as their are many users every day that just don't read the sticky threads at the top of every classified section on this site. I literally spent over 6 months in the beginning before we went to threads awaiting moderation sending members pm's about their threads that were not in compliance. It did no good as i just had to spend hours every single day sending members pm's. Remember i would not just be sending 1 pm but many many every single day and that is not efficient.

It's a simple thing here. Submit the thread per the guidelines and it gets approved. It states if it does not show up within a specific amount of time that it was not in compliance.
