For Sale Section Approval Time

Can we please get one or two more people who can approve the for sale section adds. I am tired of waiting days for my listing to be posted. Sometimes the listing is never posted and it takes multiple new threads just for it to go through. IMO the approval system should be deleted all together and have a system where no member can post in the FS section with less than 50 posts. This will stop any spam.

That is what I was thinking too, but then I see threads that are posted with no icon:

We our trying our best, guys. We are working on the issue to make sure that the approval process goes faster and smoother. In most cases, your thread should show up within 24-48hr (usually less than 24hr, but it depends on when you submitted and when the mods are available).

Yes, this process does add some work for us, but it is for more than cutting down on spam. It is also in place to try to keep bad sellers from coming back and also helps to keep things more organized. Before, things were often placed in the wrong sections, you couldn't tell if it was a WTB or FS thread, and you didn't know the location (important for those large/heavy items).

Just make sure that you follow the rules and it should go through quickly. If you followed the rules and it is taking more than say 48hr to show up, just shoot me or another classified mod a pm and we'll see what is going on.

For current threads without the icon, those were likely created before the pre-moderation thing rolled out. Also, they may have the location in the title and/or may be an international buyer/seller where no state icon is available.

He does not have a location icon because he is in Japan and states so in the title. The reason that threads do not get approved is because members are not following the announcements that are in every classified forum on this site.

I still dont understand why you dont follow a system similar to supraforums.com. It will be effective and take a huge load off of your shoulders. You are not allowed to post a fs thread unless you have been there for 9 months and or have more than 100 posts. No spammer is going to make 100 posts or wait 9 months. It would be easier to move and edit a thread or two instead of having to approve every thread.

I am NOT attacking you guys, I respect what you do as I know you work for free. Just trying to stream-line the process.

That makes sense, like I said I have a ton of respect for any moderator and I am not trying to call you out. I re-submitted my thread with a state icon and will remember to do so in the future.

Yes, there is good and bad with whatever method we use.

The supraforums method should take care of spammers, but we would still have to shuffle through threads to take care of ones that were breaking forum rules (non-paying vendor, ebay links, make me and offer type sale, etc.). This is basically what we had to do before the pre-moderation. One major problem is you don't know what threads had already been check by another mod. This means that some where never checked and others were checked multiple times. At least this way, everything only needs to be checked once and it works to weed out the posts that are breaking the rules or to eliminate posts by repeat bad sellers.

Anyway, there is no easy solution. You can help us by making sure that your post meets all requirements before posting. This saves work for us, your post will be approved quicker, and you won't be wasting time wondering why your thread hasn't shown up.

This is the best we can do for now unless someone comes up with a better solution.

If the mods need more help with the approval process, I would be happy to lend a hand if needed. Just PM me and let me know.

Yeah, we are looking at if we need to Add or Replace or Reduce more Mods to see if it will cut down on the time involved.

But despite the number of announcements and public postings, there still is huge number of posts submitted in the classifieds that do not follow the rules. This delays any sort of approval that can happen no matter how many mods there are checking them.

The location icon is used for the following reasons.

1) Members can see where the buyer is located without entering the thread.

2) Not all members state their location in their profile

3) Not all members location listed in their profile is current

This is what has been up for months-

Announcement: IN CASE YOU'RE WONDERING WHY YOUR CLASSIFIED THREAD HAS NOT SHOWN UP?

Announcement: OK GUYS, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! READ THIS REGARDING YOUR CLASSIFIED THREADS

https://www.rx7club.com/announcement.php?f=99&a=167

Back in July of last year I put the above one in every single forum on this site so that members would have a heads up. It has been there ever since.

So why can't you guy's see the big bold RED announcements?

We had looked into the 50 post thing but that would only penalize existing members and cause others to post ***** to gain enough posts. The way we have it set up now allows us to keep things structured and help eliminate all of the issues.

We understand this and are working to get faster approval times.

As stated if everyone does their threads according to the guidelines then the threads will be approved faster.

Uhm

The red text in the guidelines page made me click the little X, I'm sure others didn't feel like staring at that too.

lol - Rx7 Doc...

Your not going to please everyone. Stick to the rules at hand and tell everyone else to deal with it

Automatically change any threads that say "For Sale Approval" to "I love the Moderators!"

i have been waiting over 3 days for my thread to post. ( and yes it was done correctly ) that is a bit of non sense. the rx7club was just fine without moderation on the FS sections. like others have said do a certain amount of posts 10, 20, 40 whatever. the supraforums and most others dont have any issues and dont use this type of moderation. i think this is going to push many members away from rx7club and over to nopistons.com etc....

-- or get more moderators to get the job done. there are many worthy members on here. there is no excuse for waiting 6 hours for a thread to post. nevermind 3 DAYS !!!

If you are talking about the seats that you posted, you used the location icon, but you did not list if it was FS or WTB in the title.

According to the logs, you submitted on 2-22-09 9:16PM (EST) and it was deleted (would have been approved if it had the FS) on 2-22-09 at 9:24PM. So, you were looking at a turn around time of minutes. Not bad, I think.

I've mentioned it before..if it doesn't show up within 2 days (usually within 1 day), then there is something wrong with it (most likely). Re-submit it, or you can ask myself or another mod about it. Makes no sense to wait for nearly a week for it to show up wondering why it hasn't shown up.

I agree with Pure, we need to do away with Moderated posts in the FS sections. I know this isn't an IB Mandated rule since LS1tech doesn't do this, they simply moderate the existing posts which makes it easier on the forum members. LS1 tech has far more traffic and far more members and effectively moderates by deleting non-conforming posts rather then screening every single one.

As far as the state marker goes this new system has become more of a headache then seeing a post without a location icon next to it.

It should just be mandatory to fill out the location portion of your user profile and then it's obvious where you are. And I mean drop down boxes with state abbreviations, not user fillable text boxes which result in "Location: huhuh yer moms pants lololololepic"

If the FS posts don't conform to the rules users simply need to use the report post function and enter some simple text like "Missing asking price" etc. This would cut down on your headaches and ours.

We appreciate your input however this system is going to stay in place.
The system is not in place because of IB, it is in place to help with the many issues that have occurred on this site regarding the usage of the classifieds.
