Looks like it's now moderated. The recent flame wars were (IMO) were a result of the rules not being followed. When moderated it can be a constructive area. When it isn't the rotary vs whatever becomes the topic which will never be resolved.
Calls to close the subforum are (again IMO) short sighted. This is an ever diminishing community and shutting out a segment makes no sense.
