mobile phone friendly version?
Hello, I logged onto rx7club.com with my mobile phone and it was awesome, it was a smaller more compact version that fit perfectly. Less pictures too I think. Anyways, I had to click change to HTML, so that I could post something, and I can't figure out how to get it back to the super simple layout. Is there one, or am I just crazy?
Thanks.
Thanks.
so.....any news or anything about this? a text only version would be great. waiting for the 500 smilie/location icons to load when responding sucks pretty bad. there are other forums with a text only version for mobile users, ohiorotaries.com for example.
Since there is no official standard among mobile phone manufacturers it is difficult to say if any changes made by the forum admins would have the desired effect for you.
To my knowledge the forum is compatible with nearly every PocketPC or PDA phone with a current release WAP browser. Some more basic handsets may lack the ability to display the forum properly. Between my wife and I we have 4 (a Blackberry, a PocketPC, a Samsung flip and a Sanyo flip) phones and the forum works fine on all of them, with only some minor issues occurring on the flip phones.
Nearly all current mobile phones that are web enabled have options to turn off images, you may consider trying that as an option. If your phone is not EVDO or 3G I would highly recommend this as your primary option.
The Ohiorotaries site uses an older version of the SMF software (circa 2005) that is compatible with nearly all mobile devices. The newer more powerful version of SMF that is in beta right now would also have some of the same limitations our current version of VBB presents you with currently.

i have a 3G blackjack2. its just a pain for it to have to load all the little pics and stuff. i figured there would be a text only version that could easily be implemented. i guess ill just have to keep turning the pics on and off

Mobile Version
I have been noticing since I got my Motorola Q, that a lot of sites have "mobile" versions of themselves. Is there something like that we could do here, bc I have a hell of a time using the site on my phone. Just a thought.
Greetings, cpnneeda
I have merged your post with a previously created thread about this subject.
Please see my response above. The first thing I would recommend doing is turning off the images. That will decrease load times and make things much easier to see (on most phone browsers).
At this time there are no plans to add a mobile version.
