Why is it that this site logs you out if you are inactive for more than a few minutes? Many times when researching some issue, you are referred to another thread/post, only to find that when you come back to the original post and want to ask a question or make a comment, you have been logged out. Or when you take the time to give a thorough explanation of something only to find that you have been logged out when you try to post it. WTF??? And it seems to me the time required for this log-out to occur is waaaaaay too short.

The only time VBB (the forum software) will expire your "token" is if you're on the posting replying thread creating screens and go too long before you hit submit. That time frame varies depending on how busy the site is, but usually it's 30-60 minutes. Reason this happens is when you try to posting or create something VBB assigns you a posting number. Ie, this thread is # 964991. If a certain number of posts are created between when you start yours and when you hit submit, it assumes you've given up and gives your post number to someone else. This is to prevent "ghost" threads where a user starts posting then their computer crashes or they lose cell service etc.

So to solve this, say what you want to say and hit submit. If you have a long diatribe to post, create it offline then cut/paste and post it all at once.

If this doesn't solve your problem, then what you've got going on is more apt to be a browser setting than anything going on with the site. Check to see if you've set your cookies to expire, or try another browser with default settings. I know I can stay logged in for weeks at a time.
