Seriously why the hell is this disabled? Every other forum on the web has this feature enabled so people can view videos within the post rather than forcing people to post a link which then makes you have to navigate away from the forum just to view the video.


It is enabled in the "Test Area 51" section:

So yeah, we can test to see if things work.... But then when we go to the appropriate section to post what we had tested to verify it works it does not... Am I the only one that finds this to be extremely stupid? Why bother having a test environment if you can't even apply what your testing to the rest of the forum?

The reason it is disabled is that there is a specific section that is for Videos and audio (in which it is enabled), such as what you are asking for.

We also disable it through most of the forum due to preventing hidden cross links and viral issues.

Why do we need it in any other section? If it makes sense I will be happy to enable it.

 

Well it makes sense to have it work there, but that is not where i would like to see it usable.

Fair enough. I think it would be beneficial to have it available in the Gen specific\non-technical\projects&pics sections. That way if someone wants to show a video of how they did X mod in a thread the video can be embedded there Or if they want to post a vid of their project progress etc.

What do you think?

We used to be able to do this back in the UBB days with the HTML code, which I still see as disabled...

 

Some sections have HTML embedding enabled and some don't... the ones that don't either abused it last time, or the moderators for that section have justified reasons for it not to be there.
