Man, don't get all offended and butthurt just because others dont agree with you, that's childish.
Once again, I will pose the question: WHAT NEEDS TO BE ANSWERED that is specific to verts, and does not apply to other FC's?
As a former vert owner/modifier, and someone whose worked on and parted out hundreds of FC's including verts, I can think of only a few, and I'll answer them here. Perhaps you can add them to the archives you bitch so much about.
-verts weigh 200-300lb more than coupes.
-the vert brakes are same as t2 and GXL brakes.
-vert suspension is set up the same as other FC's.
-vert taillights are different from coupe tails, but can be switched if you can live without the keyhole for the trunk.
-the vert spare tire is kept under the top behind the seats, however there is actually room for it in the trunk.
-the vert has some extra chassis bracing, including a large brace under the engine.
-the brace under the engine should not interfere with most aftermarket exhausts, turbo or NA, but a little trimming may be necessary depending on the setup...this is no big deal.
-the vert was the only model with headrest speakers. these can be retained along with the original operation via the control panel even if you go to an aftermarket deck. All you have to do is use a harness adaptor that feeds signal to the "rear" channels, and you have to jumper a switched power wire to an unused pin on the power harness; I think mine was brown/red, which is the headrest speaker amp turn on wire.
-vert drivetrains are the same as all other NA FC's.
-turbo setups drop right into verts just like other NA FC's of the equivalent year range.
-the verts got the BBS wheels which are lightweight, 15".
-the vert uses a power top which is actuated by a switch inside the car; non airbag verts had the switch on the dash, airbag models had it on the console. The ebrake must be pulled to actuate the top.
-the vert top is 2 section, a targa and fold down top with glass rear window. You can remove just the targe and run the top up, or you can fold the targa and the top down together. There is an options boot cover to hide the folded down assembly.
-most 90 and 91 verts had airbags, while 89s did not (to my knowledge).
What else is there, really?
There's your vert specific section/faq, right there. Enjoy.

^hehe
can you put that in a sticky for some of these people?
LOL LOL
Kidding!
I think the reason they put the spare under/behind the seats was to make the weight more evenly balanced.
But it's a frikin PITA to get it out. Hope you don't ever need to change a flat in the rain, you'll be hating your vert.!!!
LOL
ya
have fun
I know I've had to search high and low to find the right info regarding the hydro system on my top. pita, but I found it and fixed it.
PRoblems with my windows continue, as many other things.
but it's a 15 year old car so........

no separate vert section please. There aren't enough differences to warrant it, and as someone mentioned, more subsections just makes it harder to find what you're looking for if you have a 'cross-topic' item anyway. Think nobody searches now? Wait until you add more sections...
#29
I'm vert owner, but I think it's better not to have subsections for vert or na. You can just start thread with title like "Vert: <title>" so that people can easily guess the topic is somethnig related to vert.
Or, how about adding a option on the top of Post New Thread page to help indicating what model the topic is *related* to (I don't mean *specific* to). For instance, the following four are selectable.
NA related topic
TII related topic
Vert related topic
All (or Don't know) <--- this is default selection
For instance, it makes 1)NA, TII, or Vert ports icon (needs to create them) be shown next to the thread title or 2)background color of rows in the thread list be different. When All(or Don't know) is selected, the thread is shown as usual. Maybe this option can be one of search criteria.

actually the more I think about it, I feel the verts are like the outcasts of the bunch.
\
I really do feel that a FAQ or simply a good post in the archives compiled of all the vert. pertinent info would suffice quite well.
But Kevin, I will be one of the first to say that I'm sure you've got much more knowledge about the rotary motor than I do, and probably more knowledge than I do about these cars as well. But you know there is alot more to a vert than you have said , or have listed in your 'FAQ'. and I do realize that you own a vert.
OH and shouldn't a FAQ be a list of questions AND answers, not a list of statements saying what a vert does and doesn't have in common with it's coupe sisters?
and none of the regular users can add anything to the archives.
maybe YOU can add them to the archives. while you're at it, why not add all the other vert only stuff
REally...
I think that if you really look around you'll see that these cars have ALOT more differences than stated. for instance it's just come to my attention that a NA vert has a different clutch than all the other FCs. That's a pretty darn specific thing I had to really search and search for, and still can not get a good 100% confirmation on this.
Also some years the n/a vert has a M5 tranny, but it has a different final drive than the HArdtops' M5 tranny, but is the same final drive that matches up with the A4 tranny...(manual tranny), and other years the vert and coupe share the same manual tranny (I'm guessing N/a, but that list of specs doesn not show a turbo vert.) Maybe they didn't make the turbo verts that year.
See there are so many Q's, not alot are really important, but some are.
and I understand that you can swap trannys without the need for the exact same gear ratios, but if you were to rebuild one......
I'm not saying it deserves a whole sub-forum at all, just saying that the verts are kinda dogged down around here and some pertinent info is hard to come by.....
and yeah, life is unfair....

Just thought I'd dig this thread up since there have been a bunch of convertible specific threads in the 2nd gen section lately and this might be a good idea.
