new tires
new rad
helmet

buttoning everything up, and enjoying for a full season! hopefully some serious driver-modding at some autocross and track days.

I wasn't prepared for the attention this car gets. I have people acting like idiots around me, following me, taking pictures.

I made this clip because on another forum I frequent they were posting vids of what their cars sounded like.

I've got an 8 1/2"x11" paper with everything I don't like about my car....
It's full.... sniff....

Hopefully I'll be able to take off at least half of them, if wallet issues let up..

RE-Speed rack and pinion conversion with the quick ratio rack. (FINALLY!! I think I'm about halfway there in the savings account)

Maybe an RE-Speed triangulated strut bar, if finances allow.
Maybe some poly bushings/replace some with stock rubber bushings, if I feel like dropping the axle housing.
Some jets so I can finally get around to tuning the Sterling
Adjust timing properly.
Replace transmission (second gear synchro is toast)
Find hole that is letting in rainwater behind drivers seat.

Wow... that list is longer than I thought it would be.

I have a few things I need to sort out.

1. Find out why the car won't hold idle.
2. Install the final interior piece to complete the entire car.
3. Basic maintenance.
4. Might get new oil cooler.
5. Enjoy the finished product.

Mr. Meatloaf,
Welcome to the club. Hope to see you at a few meets next season. And yes, try to get use to the attention because it never really goes away.

OK, here's my list:

1. Finally get the car over to Joe (classicauto) to get the Feed skirts and rear mudguards put on and painted....I was toying with the idea of putting on some mudflaps and have Joe airbrush a "sitting lady" on them....but we couldn't agree on which way the sitting lady would be facing....inboard or outboard....lol
2. Redo the suspension bushings/pillowballs
3. Slam the beast down on a custom set of dampers
4. Figure out the new rattle in my tranny and hopefully rebuild it...I'll blame Jimmy for the jynx....he knows why....lol
5. Finally finish the interior...to those who know my plans, all I can say is "just you wait!"
6. Sound system - open to suggestions on what head unit to go with
7. ....and if there's time....change my oil.....

Gotta wait until it's warm enough to work outside.
clutch master and slave, so I don't have to bleed it each week. Fuel pressure regulator (still was third in my autocross class for the season) but I wonder what would happen if I had some power when I exited sweepers.

- maybe this is the year to explore some power additives.

84 GS RB suspension Rewinds Falkens, everything else is stock including the mandatory front cover oil leaks.

Inboard. You want the girls bracketing/embracing you/the car. Not sitting with their backs toward you. Wives/girlfriends already supply that.

My list is short, and assumes my personal financial crisis eases a bit...

First up, and cheap, a heavier front sway bar. Even with the car lowered and on 350in/lb racing springs, I'm getting too much weight transfer to the outside front in even moderately tight autocross maneuvres (in fact, just about any turning under power at speeds up to about 80km/h), resulting in unloading the inside rear and converting power to tire smoke via the open diff. I'm leaning towards the ST 27mm bar; don't want to make the car hard to rotate with too heavy a bar, just slightly less tail-happy and tire-smoking.

Bringing me to my 2nd priority, one that requires a bit more $$ - finding and swapping in a Miata torsen. I don't really have much idea, or the tools, to set the engagement between the pinion and the ring gear, so I have to budget for the torsen and at least some labour.

Replacing the front control arm bushings would be nice, probably with urethane. It doesn't seem loose or clunky, but the car is 17 years old, and I've autocrossed/tracked the car for going on 10 years. I can't imagine the OEM bushings are in top condition anymore.

Last, it would be nice to get my dark purple TII aluminum hood painted red to match the rest of the car. Although the dark paint has a lot of people thinking the hood is carbon, until they catch the sun on it the right way and see the colour. Even if it was carbon, I'd like to have it match the car. It's not exactly a stealthy car, but I like the lines and the dark hood breaks it up a bit. And unpainted carbon hoods are on the list of things that scream "Ricer!" to me.

I bought an old RX-4 13B engine and tranny for $75 with a plan to tear it down for fun and if its OK to possibly try a rebuild myself for a second engine for the '79 SA that also needs a rebuild on the 12A.

Heres what i found so far ........ looks kinda promising I think except a little chrome flaking on the bottom of the rear housing , but not sure if it makes it trash . Going to measure the tolerances after I get them a little more cleaned up .

I think those nice 74-75 13B stock ports will be kinda nice on the old 79 ,combined with the Hitachi carb if I can get it cleaned up and a maybe a header. A stock engine with no rats nest to remove .

Link to the 79 project is below if interested

too cold to work on my 7, sleeping in storage currently. Just been doing work on my winter car (oil pressure sensor, oil pan re-seal, radiator, replace thermostat, cooling system flush, shift lock acuator, new o2 sensor, replace front cold startup catalytic converter).

Once I get my car out of storage I will be preping it for summer, just basically replacing spark plugs, checking over the cooling system, flow test and clean injectors, and Pettit duct and cover plate to get the smic to cool a bit better. Then possibly porting the wastegate and putting on a catback exhaust system.

They're RE-Amemiya Spec DG-5's which come in 16k front and 18k rear. They assured me it was grip setup and not drift, and that those rates worked best on the track.
