My first car was actually a truck if you consider a base model 1995 S10 regular cab short box a truck..... That old 2.2L and borg warner 5 speed trans took some harsh beatings from my right foot.

First car, 1988 Buick LeSabre Limited coupe with the series 1 3800 V6 pumping out a whopping 165hp and 220 lb ft of torque. Excellent car and one of the most comfortable cars I have owned. It was given to me by my parents when I got my drivers license. Really an excellent car with very little rust, sold it a year later shortly after getting my 82 RX-7.

[QUOTE=RXeckless;10735838]I just can''t see Jim in a VW beetle did it have flowers and a peace sign painted on it, but definitely in the GTO a true classic now. Although some people think the early VW's are classic's but IMHO one ugly car just like my GLC.
Not quite what I was after, for hippie Jim but close enough! Does This bring back memories.

You and Al are very mean , as far as memories go, "NO" i don't remember ....i only recall the car

a 1984 V6 fiero. Bought it for $1500. With the V6 and 4:10 gears and a 4 speed manual, it was actually a ton of fun. Too bad it broke on me like every single time I drove it. I sold it and bought my 10AE the next day.

I learned to drive in an 88 Mazda 626.
I also had the pleasure of borrowing my Mum's 89 Buick Electra Estate Wagon!!

And this is why my first car has been, and always will be the FD. Man, has it been 13yrs already?! Holy!

1972 Austin America. Quite an incredible car (in every sense of the word) that my sister and I bought in 1975.

Technically, my first car was an 87 jetta carat. My father drove it home for me, and then I went to start it up the next day, and that was it. I never got it started after that, and sold it for what I paid. Ironically though, I have some memories with that car that would be difficult to explain.

The first car that I had when I got my licence was an 89 ranger, with the 2.9l mated to a 5 speed. It was as rusty as could be. We used to ash on the floor since there were holes in the back that assisted with the removal of them. Quite a few memories with that.

Thanks. I got it from my grandfather, he was a local brick layer. I did a hefty resto on it before I had my drivers license. I also had to get the trans rebuilt because he never put it into third. Three on the tree. Restored it and sold it to by an Red FD with R2 package.

HM.

First car on the road was a 1987 Mercury Tracer though. I had three dead FCs and got the Tracer so I could get to all the RX-7s.

My RX-7 (Tina). The car found me as I was looking for 300ZXs, which were impossible to find in a condition that was not 98% rust. Bought it from the back of a used car lot. They had an ad for the car in Auto Trader and I popped down to see if they might have any 300ZXs as well. Saw the RX-7, drove it (incidentally the 2nd time I had driven standard) and then bought it the next day. The rest, as they say, is history. Weird feeling knowing that I've owned the car for 12 years...

Here is a picture of my '76. It was built 3 months before I got my drivers license. Its amazing to go out in it and you see the difference between cars and trucks from back then and todays stuff. We have come a looooooong way.
