what are you using?

i just bought a 93 rx7. it didn't come with a cat, just a straight 3" pipe engine to exhaust. its pretty loud and it makes a bobbling sound. just wonderin if what are you usin for a cat and how does it sound. plus does anyone hav trouble with with the car when its just idling?? sometimes my rpm gauge will go up and down and it feels as though its gonna die on me. please let me know what you guys think thankz

I am running full custom 4" piping, for a cat i went with Random Technology, but also threw in a Magnaflow as a resonator to help in keeping it quiet. If you are running full 3" exhaust straight threw with out any cat, becareful of leaning out. Do you have a PFC? If not get one, along with the PFC you can have your idle adjustment fixed

3inch piping...DP/MP magnaflow cat/ Apexi GT spec. cat back, Loud as hell. Like Mazdabation asked....What ECU do you have? Hunting idle could be a number of things, TPS, vaccum leak, etc.
You should have someone check the car out, to neglect proper set-up and maintenance on these car's could be catastrophic.....

a large magnaflow stainless steel oval offset muffler placed in the middle of the system (after cat, or in place of a cat) works good at reducing noise and making the tone sound nicer.

A PFC is a standalone ECU made by Apex'i for all tuned autos.

A resonator only aids in restricting noise levels, because of its straight through design (magnaflow) you will still get leaned out conditions.
A cat on the other hand, even though high flow, will help in restricting flow and richen the mixture a bit.

PS leaning out and noise levels are two different things, by what you have typed it almost sems you have them as the same. take your plugs out and have a look at them. this should give you and idea of your mixture.

Pss what other mods are you running??
