Question What do you think?

2000 Jaguar 4.0 S-type.. auto.. what do you think of the car?

It seems really classy, but will it be too boring for me?

Kinda ugly. I'd prefer an XJ. Much more grace, pace, and space. Also super cheap second hand.

are you looking for a daily driver or something? it sounds like you are considering this car for purchase for yourself, but maybe some extra info on what it will be used for

autos are more expensive to repair to begin with, i don't want to know what a Jag one would be worth.

yeah, basically it would be a daily driver. I dont think jags are really appealing at all, but to older guys, like 40+, it seems they are a lot more popular. More or less I am thinking of it because of the name. I found one for under 20g's, and I was considering it.
I'm looking for something with lots of space, decent gas mileage, fully loaded.
Bottom line, something comfortable, not too boring, that can haul a lot of ppl in comfort.
I was looking as well at BMW 5's, however I am told that they cost more for insurance?
I'd MUCH rather prefer a 5 or 7 series bmw over a jag, mercedes, audi, etc.
For the same price range as the jag, I could opt for a 1998 740I. ($18K)
OR 1997 BMW 528I. almost 200k kms for $12k..

OPINIONS wanted with reasons of course

Jags from the late 60s and early 70s are nice. Everything else is a waste of time IMHO--it's more of a styling-feel thing.

Since you mentioned the other cars, I would definitely consider the BMWs. They are very capable and comfortable. You can actually drive it sedately but if you want to lay the hammer down, you also have that option.

Good luck with whatever make you choose.

If you are looking for luxury car value, a caddi or a lincoln is the way to go. LS's are way under 20 g's. You can choose v6, v8, auto, five speed, whatever. An older STS can be wicked cheap too.

Sure, but an LS is the same platform as a jag, only less expensive.

And a northstar is a pretty stout motor, so long as you look after the trannies.

Oh, and back to Hotty's first post... Yes, an automatic is way too boring to drive.

I think you should buy an RX-7.

Hahaha.

And as for automatics, they are great for city driving and daily driver. You can drink a coffee or change a CD with ease on an automatic. You can even become one with your cellular phone.

As for Jaguar itself? My mom would be jealous.

Advice, go with BMW as an alternative. M5's are SICK. One of my friends dad has one and its sooo nice. And wicked fast too.
