ON Weigh in on opinion of value? 88 convertible

I'm a Mazdaspeed 3 owner in Collingwood, ON, who has a chance to buy an 88 RX7 convertible with 185,000 km (115,000 miles) that seems to be in very good condition. All the electrics work (everything-guages, radio, antennae, mirrors, wipers-everything), paint is excellent, no rust, always winter stored, top seems perfect, immaculate engine bay. I just drove the thing for about 1.5 hours at varying speeds and it runs smoothly and reasonably tight. Brakes felt a little spongy but nothing out of the ordinary. Drivers seat is a little cracked up but the passenger seat is perfect. The owner is my girlfriend's father and he is asking $1500 for it...its been his baby and he is too arthritic to get in and out any more. It struck me as a good deal but I thought I would come to the pros to find out.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Sounds like a great deal to me. Any good condition fc with fairly low mileage and in working condition is worth that minimum! Post some pics if you can. There are a good number of rotary guys around the grey/bruce area. If you buy it come say hi!

For $1500, that's a good deal. I see verts fetch for just a few hundred shy of TII prices ($4500+)

Thanks for the input....not being a rotary or older car guy I need a little encouragement!

It's snow white with few blemishes. Oh ya, he put all new rubber on it last summer too!

That's a great deal, even finding a run into the ground T2 for around that would be almost impossible.

Instant turn over with that price :P I got my vert through a trade for a paintjob haha. Also, they are far more rare than a hatchback and is lots of fun to put the roof down

Bargain of the century, my friend. I bought mine in similar condition for a couple grand more, and I thought THAT was a good deal. Albeit, mine had 66k on it.

My vert has similar mileage and in similar condition and I will not let it go that kind of $$. Go for it!

Thanks for all the input guys. I've spoken for the car...drove it again today and it was as good as the other day! We'll get the paperwork done this week. In the meantime I took some photos to share. I'm pretty stoked!

At $1500 its a good buy, even if it wasn't in running condition.
