vmic anyone?

does anyone in ontario know where to get a v-mount ic installed or custom fabed? any pics? or prices? i was thinkin of using the ebay intercooler for like $500usd. there is a thread in the 3rd gen forum titled "pics of my fd" i think. the guy who started the thread said he might make some more brackets for the ebay vmic setup and sell them, just wondering if there was any competion here?
thanks

What's a v-mount?

I've heard of a top mount, and a front mount, but v-mount?

v-mount:

it's basically placed adjacent to the rad at an intersecting angle, hence the term "V". the point is to not have the cooling air shared between the two.
you can also set it up to vent through the hood to further minimize engine bay heat.

i'm not quite sure who in Ontario does specifically v-mount installs on FDs.

I could help you custom fab up a V-mount setup for your FD.

I can get some pretty good deals on either bar and plate or tube and fin cores, and can have custom endtanks welded up for the V-mount setup. Not too much piping would be needed either.

Let me know, maybe bring it by my shop and I could take a look at it.

LOL after 5 years.....we're still getting water comments!!

I dont own an FD.

I have not done a V-mount before, but I am supposed to be doing a V-mount setup on another forum members FC in the next little while...after it gets out of the body shop.

Maybe send me a pm and we can talk about pricing....not really sure if the mods like me talking about $$$. I've been told before.

There were a few limitations that required it be done like that, including sourcing a rad with the right measurements at a price and delivery date within the budget/time and not being sure about the hood layout for air evacuation. Also trying to keep as much of the front end as possible in one pc. as the car was probably going to be sold later on and didn't want anything that couldn't be undone at a later time. his new one will be more '>' shaped as we know the venting that wil be used and have a better source for rads and cores now.

?? to do a V mount you have to have some sort of opening on the hood for the air to escape, otherwise you don't get flow IF your thinking of doing a DEEP V where the IC angle is such that it tends to be more vertical then horizontal then your now having to do allot of extra mods to make it work, even then the point of the V mounts layout advantage is lost.

But perhaps I'm mistaken in what your actually saying or asking.. could you show a picture , if you have one, of what your vision is for the V mount..

i didnt think that u had to have a vented hood for the vmic, i understand that with a vented hood u will get the most out of ur ic. all that hot air has to go somewhere. but i though u could get away with not doin it. i dont think i would ever take a saw to my car and make it look like a hack job peice of ***

you could always buy an aftermarket vented hood. there are a bunch available for the FD.

i've seen VMIC setups on the forum without vented hoods, but it just makes sense those don't work nearly as well, and maybe even worse than a standard FMIC.

The Pivot is a good device but it's a simple pot. you could make something like this with parts ordered from RadioShack. IF you use it with the H4's then at 2.5", which is about as high as you need to go for the P3000's to clear , the H4 is only showing the top 1/4 of it's lens.. more then enough to get you pulled over for improper lighting.

firstly, the pivot only stops the lights from goin all theway dowm\n, you cant run them like that legally, my lights are perminatly sleepy, i can have full lighting with teh covers in that position.

secondly, dont hack your hood, buy one. i ran out of money and we cut it for a temp solution.

hacking is a relative term.....

this hood was "hacked" by me for a TII swap into a first gen....

doing a reverse vent for a vmount would be cake....
