Value of a blown S5 TII keg?

I bought a JDM import motor with the (feeble) hope that it would run but had no luck. I tried freeing up the seals that i thought were stuck but couldn't get compression on the rear rotor. I'm just wondering how much this would go for in the for sale section or what I'd be able to trade for it (if anything). The engine overall looks clean, didn't have coolant gunk when it was first unpacked from being transported, and looks visually pretty good from what I can see through the exhaust ports. Let me know if you think I should just post a for sale thread and take offers.

if you were going to sell it you'd probably be best off taking it apart and selling off anything thats still good on it to recoupe some money, if you sold it all complete as a blown motor maybe sell it for 500ish you dont really know whats damaged, if it ate a seal the turbo could be pooched too

If you're considering selling it, I'll give you $350 for it.

Just to be clear it's only the block, no manifolds, no turbo, no flywheel/clutch. If I take it apart I'm gonna rebuild it but I dont have the money to do the rebuild I want right now. So I'm considering selling it as a complete block and putting the cash towards a solid link I have on a guaranteed running S5 TII longblock.

Check the rear rotor for damage. If it has no damage then perhaps its only a stuck seal and could possible go for a bit more as all what I will need is a simple rebuild kit.

from what I've seen through the exhaust ports both housings look good inside and the rotors seem to be good. All the apex seals are present and moveable. I figure one (or more) of the rear rotor seal springs is just shot, but given my current position I don't want to take the chance of the rebuild costing me more than $1,100. Basic spring and gasket set is like 540(?) and then there are the risks with re-using any engine for parts, things could be out of spec and I wouldn't re use them so that would end up driving my cost up. I prefer just to buy a running longblock that I have lined up to purchase for 800 and toss that in just so I have the car running this summer. By the time that one blows ill be able to dive full-on into a proper rebuild and build it for more power.

Shame you're not closer - I'm craving more power, and taking my time with a rebuild is no issue since my NA runs great currently... S5 TIIs are a little hard to come by.

How are you checking compression? Probably just a stuck seal from sitting for years. If all the parts are useable and you don't want to rebuild, you can disassemble it in under an hour and make way more. Couple hundred for housings, few hundred for the irons, few hundred for the rotors. FD guys can use the housings and rotors so the market opens up.

compression was checked with a mazda compression tester when I put the engine in my car. Semi-warm it showed no compression on the rear housing and the front was within spec. The engine ran and held idle like a champ on one rotor lol

Funny how that works. Mine was blown in the rear as in 3 apex seals were in chunks. After three years of sitting, it started up quite easily and ran, jsut rev'd extremely slowly lol

might as well try putting some atf in the rear rotor for a day or 2, not gonna mess it up any more than it is.
