Japanese stock ecu's are tuned for 98 octane because that is attainable at the pump so all JDM FD's if I’m not mistaken is the same case. Most people don't know/realize this but the best way of tuning it for 94 octane is to buy a power FC the base map is actually loaded for 93 octane and it's simply plug and play if you have a JDM FD no wires to modify but don't boost past 11psi or you'll have some problems until you get proper tuning but it's a good fix if you just want to do some daily driving with it go to JRP and tell them you want a power FC they sell them for $800 if not less don't get ripped off by anyone else they are actually an authorized retailer for apex-i.

Umm, doesn't Japan use the RON octane ratings system? Meaning their 98-100 octane is the same as our 89-91? I'm quite certain they're on a different rating system then we are. As usual there are higher octane fuels accessible just as there are over here, but the factory doesn't tune the engines on the ragged edge of race-gas type octanes.

As far as tuners go, good luck....

Apexi power FC for the FD retails for $1000 at JRP.
