Here's the link to the article in last Saturday's star; the other GTR's are from ONIJDM.com

I was one of the few who got to see the beast on this night.
Great thanks to my friend Laurence for the opportunity!

It will be this years hard to find item, for sure!

Hey, speaking of which, what is everyone's opinion of this car? I don't really like it personally.

It is not an auto box. It's a DSG box. It is the only tranny that will come with the car.
The main reason why it's so fast is because of it's tranny. Alot of software/hardware has been put into this thing.

I personally like it. The pictures don't do it justice.
It is a very big car compared to anything earlier than 2000. This thing dwarfed the other Skylines that came out that night.

Seeing the car on picture is always different than seeing it in the flesh.

I didn't think the Audi R8 was going to impress me all that much. That thing is fantastic in real life!!! I can't wait to see the new one come out!

For the brief time the GT-R was allowed on the road, it received alot of thumbs up and head nods.

Godzilla indeed.

That white R32 closer to the new GTR lives down the street from me. It's freaking badass, and old friend owns it. =) Sounds beautiful.

2Fierce,

You can tell Audi has gone all out lately. All their models look great, feel great, and go like stink!

Again, thanks to Laurence, I was one of the first to experience the R8. I especially love how the gearshifter sounds like you're loading a gun whenever you do a shift!

^^^Awesome quality pic. I love that car, even possibly more than the Aston V8 Vantage.

PS: Does Laurence know you guys are just "friends"?

Lawyer,

I've got a couple more pics of the R8 before my camera started malfunctioning. I've had to reduce the pic above considerably. Let me know if you want them.

Laurence is a true gearhead. I met him through another forum member who went to school with him since elementary.
We have similar opinions regarding cars. We got along very easily.
Over the years he would pass along invites to some of the best sports cars or luxury cars the world has to offer.

I think there are a few world firsts left this year to debut. The new Lambo Gallardo LP560-4 comes to mind.

I don't doubt the GTR has amazing performance.... but am I the only one who thinks it's UGLY?!

The interior reminds me of my old Sunfire :S

I don't usually comment on looks because it's purely subjective but I couldn't help myself this time.

Am I missing something? Help me out guys

I get a similar deal when Canwest reviews the cars but I am yet to have the time to take advantage of the connection.

Neo-wannabe, you can't seem to contain your feelings for Neo. Why not just tell him you think him and his car are the ****?

Nope, I hate it too. I think it is alot tougher to design beautiful cars when there are restrictions like how high headlamps etc. have to be. Some just get it perfect like the R8 and some just don't.

Lawyer,

Before I send them over, does that email have any sort of size restriction??
Majority of these files are 2-3mb a pic. I've got about 15 or so.

Rxcetera,

Granted, the interior of the GT-R is not like the R8's

They had to save somewhere. But it's no where near as bad as American car interiors.
It's hard to tell due to the lighting, but the interior is rather nice. The Instruments are nicely appointed. The thing that does grab your attention is the information screen. That thing displays all sorts of information.

Alot of people don't like it, others love it.

It really depends on your style.

I'm surprised the redline is not closer to the 12 Oclock position.

I'm with you on that - Nissan is working on having a stable full of ugly cars (anyone else think the new Sentra looks like a bad knock-off of a Saturn Ion, itself a none-too-lovely car?). The new Altima is perhaps the only one that improves (and doesn't change much) from it's predecessor. I don't doubt the GT-R rocks on the road, but it looks big and awkward in pretty much all the shots I've seen. I still think the R32 GT-R is the best looker of the lot - it looks positively svelte next to the new car.

Personally, I don't like the way it looks. To me its not a "Skyline", or GTR as they call it now. Besides the tail lights and a few other small things, it shares nothing really in common with the old GTR. To me, it looks more like a 350Z with a body kit and some custom taillights added on.

As far as performance, I'm still not sure if I like Nissan's switch to the VQ35 engine in the new car, at least I think its the VQ35 they put in it. Either way, I think they should have stayed with the RB26. That is my 3rd favorite engine of all time behind the Rotary and Buick turbo 3.8 V6.

regardless of what some might think of its looks, there is no denying this car is a major step in the evolution of "affordable" supercars, and sports car technology in general at that price point. and it's good to see a company like Nissan able to make a car like this, while many others are more or less content these days making econo cars...

$82G's before taxes.

Don't be surprised that the dealers will have a 10-15G markup due to the availability of the car.
