There's a small driving school program happening right now at Shannonville using Ariel Atoms. Article came out last weekend. Jim Kenzie had the oppertunity to drive it around the track.

I love Top Gear!! Jeremy is classic! lol

I think they're using a supercharged Ecotec now instead of the Honda engine. It was on Discovery Channel last weekend too.

There is a tour going across the states right now "introducing" the Atom to the American press and public. I forget the price, but you can be part of one of the track days - and they are going to some great tracks IIRC. Man that would be fun!Hehe - I have all 8.5 seasons of the "new" Top Gear on DVD. It's like automotive ****! lol

Did they finally discontinue the Honda engine? I thought it was optional.

This car has been around for a couple years now, if you can call it a car.

I think the track day was like $3000 or something rediculous. Well, I wouldn't call it rediculous in price when you compare it to the Porsche Driving Experience, which is almost equial in track time.

And yes, you can buy them here. And NO, they are not street legal. They are only street legal in a hand-ful of states as a matter of fact.

I dont think they discontinued the Honda engine, some sort of emission laws I think? Dont quote me on that.
Actually had a guy come to the shop today and we were talking about this lol.
He told me there is a place in Toronto that brought a couple of the Atoms from the UK in with the Honda engines, they take them out on the QEW once in a while for fun!

BTW where would I find these DVD sets for Top Gear?

Pretty expensive track car.

I'm curious as to how that suspension works. Anyone have a link to a schematic that shows it. It looks similar to F1 suspensions.

Well, you can't actually buy them. The BBC is notorious for not releasing their shows. I downloaded them from the Internet and burnt them onto DVD's. They wont play in a regular DVD player, so I play them on my TV using the video out on a lap top. Works great! The site I got them from doesn't host them anymore though

Nick86,

I know there's no defintive place to view all your Top Gear episodes, but at least this site follows it religiously www.finalgear.com

They show Top Gear and 5th Gear shows.

Lates,

When I was in the states awhile back, the Ariel Atom was just released. I think fully priced out without the gay body kit was about $60,000USD. When you compare that to a ferrari enzo, thats a pretty good deal. Just too bad you need a dealer plate to drive it on the street.

I know a guy here thats absolutely obsessed with top gear. He even subscribes to BBC on Television to record it in HD with his HD-DVR.

Funny, I was looking for this video just the other day. It's a shame we can't get the wmv anymore since the flv version leaves something to be desired...

I tried a search on this forum (where I originally got the wmv) but pretty well every thread seems to have the words Atom or Ariel.

At least it still good for a great laugh!
