The story really didn't make me laugh, but their shitty mathematical and physics skills did. The rims would stop but the tires would keep spinning.

LOL, Newtonarian hehehe.

So she caught up to these two characters doing 200km/h... So SHE had to drive like an ******* to catch up... Likely with her lights off because they would have ran instantly in different directions. **** why can Darwin take care of more people?

It's hard to say who is more of an idiot:

1. The two drivers doing 200KM/H in a 50 zone on Martin Grove Rd (seriously?!).

2. The Const. Sue Fisher who though it was in the public's best interest to add yet another car to that scene by chasing them at that speed in an unmarked car.

3. The Sgt. Tim Burrows who somehow believes that physics and simple common sense doesn't apply to speeding vehicles.

4. The editor for not facts-checking.

Why is it that people in a position of authority are almost always ferociously unqualified to do their jobs?

And I think that Prelude used to be owned by someone in London. I'm fairly sure I recognize the car of an LAC member.

**** why can Darwin take care of more people?
For some reason society has evolved to protect the stupid and encourage them to reproduce more stupid. 100 years ago these people could not have existed in such great numbers. 200 years ago they would have not existed at all.

Wow. just wow.

Everything you guys have said... is true.

Those "facts" actually scare me. I wonder what crazy ones apply to murder? "Bullets don't slow down, and they always fly straight."

There is one item we all have missed: Both were borrowing the car, and neither car was that of an enthusiast. I will bet against them pulling over more mini's. Guess who gets to feel the repercussions?

i really can't help myself stop laughing at those so call... "facts"

whomever did those estimate for those braking range need to go back to school.. or atleast take a drive on a track with a proper car...

And that neitherland guy must thought he was funny when he was talking to the cop... Theres not a single country in the world with a 200km/h speed limit on a local street...

Anyways after those anti street racing laws were enforced in Ontario back then, is hard to believe theres still people doing these kind of speed on the street....

I met the driver of the Mini today. He is visiting from Holland for the summer and washes cars at my local hand wash spot. He is quite proud of his article. He is going to get away with it though since he will be going back to Holland in a month.

He did give a different version of events, which makes a little more sense than the published verison. But I'll refrain from further comment since the other driver does have to answer to the charges.

PS: That portion of Martingrove Rd. is surrounded by farmland just north of Steeles. People fly on that strip all the time, which doesn't make it ok but I wanted to add context.

Don't dangle the carrot and then offer a potato! What is the other side of the story?

Though it sounds like the guy is a grade-A douche-nozzle for not only his actions but to take pride in the article. Can he really just go back to Holland and get away totally without responsibility? Is it that easy? If so then there is something seriously wrong with the system.

Is it really that easy? Is he allowed back in to the country? if so, are there any guidlines he will have to follow?

He still needs to face up to his crime that he committed in Canada. If i am not mistaken they can summon him to canada for trials or transfer the case to Holland where he would be charged under local law.

He will still need to answer for his actions.

Also is it just me or did anyone else notice the fact that the officer caught up to them on a red light?

Correct me if i'm wrong but here in Montreal, if i'm going 200 and i see light change, i would not be able to stop in time most likely. Atlist not while the other person would make it though. Given the affect they did not mention anything about them running red lights, i am guessing one of them made it though the intersection before the light change.

I strongly doubt they where traveling 200 for a long time. Maybe even just a couple of seconds. Otherwise i can't imagine them being able to stop on a light.

Just my 2c

Nothing would get transferred to another country. Things don't get transferred within Canada let alone another country.

He will still have a court date and if he doesn't attend he will be convicted in absentia. If it was a criminal matter there would be a warrant issued for his arrest if he failed to attend court. But even in those circumstances warrants usually have a distance limitation to them. Think of the term "Canada Wide Warrant", which is a rare animal that is reserved for matters that the state wishes to spend any amount on.

That said s.172 carries a potential jail sentence of up to 6 months. If he received such a sentence in absentia a warrant of commital would be issued. If he ever returned to Ontario he would probably be arrested and sent to serve his sentence.

If would be a complete waste of our tax dollars to pursue petty criminals across the globe or country.

The smart thing to do would be to make sure that he did not get a jail sentence. Plead guilty and walk away. I highly doubt that there is any driving privilege consequences for him back in Holland as a result of the Ontario conviction.

at 200km/h it taking about two football fields to stop is accurate.

that's only ~180M. At 200km/h (without stopping) you cover that amount of ground in just over 3 seconds.

^^But as soon as you lift off the gas, you are no longer covering ground at that rate - you very quickly decelerate. The calculations of the High School Graduate commentator are probably close to accurate, although they do still assume braking acceleration is constant, which might not be the case due to brake heating (both cars should have pretty capable brakes, however, and be capable of at least one hard stop from the supposed 200kph without significant brake fade). On the other hand, HSG only assumes 75% of the braking acceleration measured from 80mph in their calculation, so the 3.7s/112m stopping distance calculated already has a conservative element built in.

I would never want Canada to waste a bunch of money to pursue him to Holland, but it speaks volumes about the kind of irresponsible degenerate that he actually is that he would not face the consequences of his actions willingly. If a warrant keeps him out of Canada for the rest of his life, we are better off for it.
