Temperature high of 13 degrees - I'm still driving my FD

This meaningless post may be brought to you by global warming.

From the weather forecast, it looks like the temps will be above zero in Toronto past next Friday... I'll be stealing out for drives all week.

I hope winter gas doesn't do a number on my engine, though...

I'm still driving the RX-7 as well, though today is going to be my last day. After this weekend it looks like winter is going to arrive, with the snow and salt. So today I'll be going out after lunch for a few errands and then after that, the car gets stored.

I'll keep an eye on the road conditions. I'm hoping the intermittent rain will wash away any small amounts of snow that build up.

Winter came here a long time ago. Actually most of the snow in this photo is gone since it fell.

Me too, last chance to burn off our gas in the tank then fill it up with stabilizer and let that also get into the carb!

Well the Sun actually came out yesterday afternoon and the temps were well above 10C so I ran home at lunch and grabbed the Fb and burned off some old gas in the tank and filled it with fresh stabilized stuff. Road temps were warm enough to allow even spirited driving on summer rubber and the best thing was recognition from a Porsche Cayman driver who mouthed the words W - O - W at a traffic light!

Today - a new record for December 4th in the GTA, over 16C!

Good stuff! Too bad I am stuck in the office today. There might be a few more warm, clear days left, but they'll probably be few and far between.

I've been daily driving my FD for a few weeks
I just got the engine rebuilt on my FD and a few weeks later my beater car died i've been looking for a decent replacement but the gf says she wants an automatic so she can drive it.....beater car 101 : you can find better cars for cheaper if they are stick shift. good automatics go within hours hahaha
If the winter is like last year i might not even take it off just drive it on the nicer days when the roads are clean . my stock rims came from japan with snow tires mounted hahaha
my FC is hibernating for the winter though

I've been driving my FC through the winter since I got it, but working remotely helps a lot with that. There's an old Impreza I'm able to borrow if the weather is hideous, too.

Going to get some minor bodywork done on the FC and undercoat it before the nasty weather gets here. I'm really surprised at how nicely it runs year round, no starting problems or anything with colder weather.

It's a little annoying because two weekends ago when I stored the RX-7, all indications were that snow was about to commence. Two weeks later and it's still above zero, with only a little rain. Sigh.

I've been driving whenever the rain has let up and the temps are above 0. It looks like it might be a green Christmas in southern Ontario. The scenery isn't all that great at this time of year, though... it's looking pretty drab out there.

Looks like this is the last clear, above-zero(ish) day for a while. I'm going for a short cruise and getting my car washed tonight and we'll see how things look next week.

Happy Holidays,
Everyone!

I was able to drive over 660 km last weekend until the low fuel light came on. Driving like a gas miser, this means I should be able to get almost 700 km on a tank of gas... I know this isn't exceptional mileage by any means, but it's good knowing that the FD has decent range, if not fuel economy.

This thread seems to indicate that there is 1 1/2 to 2 gallons (approx. 7.5 L) of gas left when the light goes on: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...light-1016858/

Of course, I filled up as soon as I could after the light came on. It looks like I won't need to store my FD this winter.

Your heater must be working over time; wasn't it like -10c last weekend.
I'm waiting for March break before I hit the road again.

I'm only driving the FD when the temperature is above freezing and the roads are clear of snow and ice – I have summer tires (Pirelli P Zero Rosso).

It hit a high of about 5 degrees when I was driving last Saturday morning.

Yeah, my friend told me 7 degrees and they're like a rock. I've been highway cruising at the speed limit – no problems so far, but I'm careful about braking and turns.

I saw an RX-8 downtown. That makes sense – I'd drive an RX-8 in the winter too, if I had snow tires.

Drive my 8 with "winter tires" most days this winter. Even with snows the car does not feel planted if there more that a quarter inch of snow. Try to drive "the vibe" if my wife isn't driving on those days with snow on the roads, the Vibe get through pretty well anything winter has thrown at it and gets 600km to a tank, I'm lucky to get 325km to a much larger tank in the winter with the 8 but worth it just for how much more fun it is to drive.
