They are prepared to do it as long as competitors show up,just over 60 cars last year.
Do you even know how long it is or what is included in the entry fee?
Unfortunately there must be some overhead involved in setting up a 2200km rally or they would let everyone in for free.Actual time racing makes it on par for other forms plus they provide a bunch of "perks" that you don't get at ....say a gravel rally.

Hearing that monster rip past...anti lag firing...brake rotors glowing...smell of race fuel...can't wait to go back and see what's going to be there this year.

Well since you know everything about it please do tell.....cause I'm new and still learning.
I've always heard/read that racing is expensive....what forms do you compete in that are more affordable?
Mistersty is Jacob returning for another run on The Rock?

Team Gooch is hoping to return in 2011. It is expensive, but you get a lot of "bang for the buck". Jacob put the car together from one he bought off this forum...probably the cheapest car there. The car held up well and finished with a silver plate both years we entered. It is getting S5 engine, steering and brakes for the next try. We planned and saved for 5 years to go….planning and saving to go again! (helps if you have a mother/wife that buys into the Newfoundland holiday part of it)

Ya...Joe and his daughter were a blast....the car is solid too.... I think they have won a plate every year they entered. Joe and Wayne helped us a lot the first year.We were thinking about trying to buy it off him instead of upgradding our car. I am going back down this year to work a timing controle, and might try to look into Butlers car if it is still available at that time. The whole event kinda gets into your blood and everything else takes a back seat. So far we have two more teams that are going to come with us in 2011, and 22 family and friends that are comming along to help/spectate.

Wow I'll see you in Sept then for sure, come look me up...
I passed on Joe's car today, but it shouldn't hang around long....turn key Targa package and he wants to sell....so price is good.
Tell me about it getting in your blood....I said all winter I wasn't going, but when the snow melted a few weeks ago I drove the prolog stages for fun(I live on the Flatrock one)......and I'm headed back.

A lot of the folks I know from racing here do Targa either as volunteers or racers. If I have the money/vacation time to spare this year, I'm seriously thinking about volunteering this year. I want to be involved in the event before it's gone, but the budget just doesn't exist to participate for me.
Too bad to hear that Joe is selling his car. He used to drag it over to NS a couple of times a year and race with us at AMP. Was nice having another RX7 around. Any idea what he's doing now?

I was fortunate enough to just happen to catch this on the tube? I found it incredibly entertaining seeing a home owner standing on her front steps and a couple cars tare *** across her lawn. I'd imagine some of that entry fee would go toward some of the residence that were forced at gun point to watch this for 5 days. And that white picket fence - RIP.

Were you the blue WRX that was a couple of cars over from me? (and helped push my car on the trailer as I recall...)
We've got the Solosprint National at AMP this year. At least if I break the car again, it's a lot closer to home (and my spare parts.)
