Stupid Emission tests

Alright, I got a 87 FC N/A and it has a complete custom exhaust on it. I bought it the way it sits now just so you know, I never did anything on it. Its got a header on it, not sure if it is aftermarket of Custom made but it looks custom made. It has 2 pipes running down into 1 just before the resinator, then just after the resinator it splits back into 2 and it has dual mufflers just after the axle. I am looking into what it will take to get it to pass Etest for real, not a fake one for anything. I have acsess to a 2 month old CAT for free, but its just the cat with some piping but not enough to do a whole system. I was wondering what you guys out there thought I should do, I'm relativley new to the hole Rotary thing but I know it will pass with some work. So I'm open to sugestions, and I am trying to keep this on a very very tight budget.

it won't matter, in 2007 the vehicle becomes expemt. End of story. Whether its a change of title or not it won't require an e-test at that time, just a saftey.

Your only other option if you want to get it on the road this year is to put on another exhaust system and do a bit of a tune up. Which may be a little expensive for a couple months of use, but hey, if you love it....

Thats what I was considering doing, but the lady at the DMV said that I will need one even next year. Now I have never know them to be the smartest people in the world at times, but they do usually seem to know what there talking about.

Get the Cat and put it on after the Header.when I replaced the Stock manifold I still had a "hollow cat" but Found a Presilencer that fit where the cat is.So It should work.In reverse for you.For Emissions I will suggest that you Look into finding out How to run the Air From the Air pump Outlet Directly To the Cat..(search required sorry). This will give Fresh air to the Exhaust and "dillute it" and give you better Emissions readings...Good Luck.

Emissions is a Provincial matter, so you'd have to look up the specific rules for BC's Aircare.

Kent: I have also heard that you need your last e-test no matter what. However, I registered my RX before it was exempt, and plated it as soon as it was. If you're really geeked about driving it, just invest in some 10 day permits. No e-test required.

Ive heard you need the last e-test as well....however I thought it might be bull hunky since when I registered my 86 DD (in the spring this year), which hadn't been on the road in two years (no plates and no sticker since early '04) I bought it, changed it into my name, and registered it/plated it and got a sticker all with no sniff test.

Maybe I was lucky? I dunno.
