Stupid Canadian Tire!
I had today set for the day to do my spark plugs, plug wires, and fuel filter. I head up to Canadian Tire with my list so I don't forget. I have a terrible memory. I'm looking around the spark plug section, no dice. I check the spark plug book, no dice. I walk up to the overweight kid behind the counter, and said can you see if you have these in stock? I just want the stock NGK plugs. No dice. "Its a dealer part" he says. Fawk. "How about plug wires?" "Nope, sorry." "Fuel filter?" I calmly say. "Nope," this fatass says.
So all in all, my PM weekend got shot all to crap. Where do you guys get this stuff?

They do carry the fuel filter - the kid was lazy. I bought one there back around the end of the spring.
Plug wires - haven't bought any there, but let's face it; they aren't as special as the plugs they connect to. Crappy Tire sells Accel wires, and they make wires for RX-7s.

But he is somewhat right about the plugs themselves. They dropped them about 2 years ago. You *can* get them from UAP/NAPA stores, but those guys charge more than dealerships.
Maybe you should have asked to talk to someone else there...
None of the preceeding vague information was authorized by RXcetera. Drink your milk!

Rick, go to London, and go to Parts Source, I paid 38 taxes in for my plug wires, Accel, something or other, you can buy plugs from NAPA< but they are like 17/plug. Goto Mazda.

The employees at canadian tire honestly suck, for the most part. I went there yesterday looking for a chainsaw socket to install my BR10EIX's and the guy goes from the isle he's in to the next one over and starts looking at regular sockets, pulls 1 out and i tell him i need a chainsaw socket. I briefly describe it to him and he says "we don't carry anything like that"
So i mozzy on home and talk to a friend who tells me they do have it. So i go back, and talk to a customer who happened to be walking with a chainsaw chain package. I find out where that section is and i find the socket. Low and behold i find myself right beside the JACKASS that told me they didn't have it in the first place, its the same damn isle he was standing in when i asked him for the socket. Should have slapped him across the face with the package!!!
Come to Parts Source, we know what we're talking about.. sometimes...
PS. It's sunday i'm in the store alone and lonely! Come in and buy parts so i can get commission. Oh wait i don't get comission, but come in anyways!

well I know for a fact that they carry the fuel filters... I have bought a couple from them...
For the plugs goto your local napa store and they usually have them within a couple hours for about 8-10 bucks a peice.
For the wires I would buy some good NGK's from the internet. The beldin (sp?) plugs that napa gives you are honestly not that good. That is what I switched from to some new NGK wires and im much happyier with the performance of the NGK plugs... And its NGK, can't go wrong with NGK...

What the heck is wrong with picking up plugs and a fuel filter (at least) from your local Mazda dealer?! Most dealers stock the plugs and if you go early enough, they can generally get you any part you want later that same day. Plugs are about $45 a set regular retail, and I picked up a fuel filter for $34 (discounted from Brampton Mazda). I bought NGK wires from clubplug.com for $31 (IIRC) - shipping took about 10 days.

Canadian tire isnt going to have it, they carry parts for normal cars. A simple phone call sould have saved you the dissapointment.
BTW if you need parts fast just phone UAP Napa. They can get just about anything fast.

I bought two fuel filters for less than $15 after tax at CanadianTire earlier this summer and put one on my car, and one on Eric's.
That's why my signature says "have you changed your fuel filter this year". Many times I've toted changing a fuel filter as "5 minutes and about 5 bucks canadian!"
$34? You'd better have a gold-plated filter dude

I think you guys are confusing rx7s with honda civics. lets face it. the newest rx7 is over 10 years old and that was for a 3rd gen. There are hardly any rx7s around. You shold be damned lucky that you can still get 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen parts from the dealer.
We don't drive honda civics or LT1 powered cars. If you don't have the ingenuity, inclinition, skill, knowledge for these cars don't drive one. Same goes for any british sports car.

You're forgetting: You use a little dinky plastic filter rated for the low fuel pressure used in a carb, wheras the filter the rest of us need is a big honkin' metal can that can handle the high fuel pressure of an FI system...
When I get filters fo the wife's '85 S they're only like $15, but the CHEAPEST I ever gotten an '85 GSL-SE filter for is about $30...

Yup...
The carb'd filters are a lot easier to change too.
nothing more than a couple springy hose clamps and a wire clip holding it on. I even did a roadside change on one once. Takes about 5-10 mins.
