So I'm driving to work...
...and I'm stopped at a light on Lundy's lane. There is a white 3-series BMW beside me, and a cruiser stopped at the light opposite to (facing) us. It's 7:20 am, and I am flipping through radio stations, making sure the mirrors are perfect, and just revelling in my morning stupor.
All of a sudden, the BMW jumps halfway through the intersection. I guess he was trying to race me, and didn't realize that it was an advanced green for the other side. Keep in mind that at the point the BM moved, I am not even looking out my windshield, my foot is on the brake, and the car is in neutral.
Well, the cop comes through the light, U-turns, and follows ME to my work. I ignore the fact that he is there, get out of the car, and start walking to the door. He comes out of the car to talk to me. Keep in mind, I am in my work parking lot. Shirt, tie, briefcase.
I, as nicely as possible, told him to get lost, or he, I, and his supervisor would be spending the morning discussing why he let a stunt driver off the hook (jumping turn arrows is stunt driving) so he could pursue a car with no mechanical problems that commited no moving violations.
I hope this is not indicitive of how the rest of the season is going to go, else the revolution starts with me!

I would have followed a hoodlum like you as well.
You do know the level of education required to become a cop? Need we say more. They are not the brightest bunch.
I find that the "to serve and protect" feature of policing has fallen of academy training regiment. It appears to me to be more about "to badger and annoy".
I interact with many officers as a part of my duties and there are some truly fine officers, but for the most part I am left feeling that the person is not fit for the responsibility.
I apologize if I have offended any police officers, children of police officers, parents of police officers and finally anyone that feels that police officers are the shizzle nizzle by my generalized comments.

Keep in mind most officers out there are around their early to mid 20's. Straight out of college and the academy. How many people in that age group do you know that are entirely mature and responsible. I know at least one (ME!!) that isn't. I'm getting there, toning down my speeding, not driving like an *** as much, keeping in mind the new law that could **** me over big time. I am a truck driver so my age has nothing to do with my abilities, but it has something to do with my driving habits when I'm in the car. Of course the guy probably chocked the Bimmers jump up to expecting a green, because I've done that as well as I have seen others do that. You see the cross traffic stop and your itching to go, so you count off 3 seconds and start moving. Although If he jumped as you say he did that would be pretty obvious. Unfortunatly nice BMW means money, means easier to get a lawyer and fight the charge. At least in the cops eyes, so he may have gone for what he thought was an easier ticket.

7Rocket: It's easy:
"Good morning officer, how can I help you?"
"No, I did not know that other driver, and I was pretty suprised when he jumped like that too"
"No officer, I don't have time to show you around my car, as you can see, I need to get to work. If you would like to continue this conversation, please call your supervisor here, and we'll talk about why you are preventing me from getting to work instead of impounding a car for trying to beat traffic on an turn arrow, which is, by definition, stunt driving. Have a nice day sir."
And yes, this was a simple case of profiling. Shiny sportscar = mouthbreathing flatbrimmer = easy tickets. As soon as I got out of the car, you could see the cop's face change from Tommy Toughguy the Lesson Teacher to Mikey Mistake Maker, the guy who wished he had pulled over the BMW.

I hate mouthbreathers in the worst kind of way. Good job of standing up for yourself though, since you were obviously in the right. A lot of people tend to forget that they have rights regardless of some badge is shining in their face.

Fedsy's always cool as a cucumber!
He must've been new though if he didn't know your car hehe
I can't wait to get out in the 7 again and see what this season brings. I figured out how to run the voice recorder on my phone, so bring on the harassment baby!!

thats not mouthbreathing. thats what happens when they sew your ******* closed to promote **** retention. It is used as a police training tool, and is quite effective. the only known side effect is that flatulance is forced out the mouth when speaking. That is why 90% of what comes out of a cops mouth reeks of ****.
the other 10% is spit i think.

The real kicker is that next time they run Feds' plates in CPIC it will show that his plate was searched on this date. Then dumb cop number 2 steps upto the plate, he doesn't think we should leave this citizen that we harassed previously alone, oh no, he thinks I better pull him over again cause he probably deserved to get pulled over last time.
I remember in my teen years I got pulled over 5 times in one month without getting a ticket based dumb cop logic. No tickets on any of the occasions.

Never mind "computers hooked up to CPIC back then".....They had computers back then?
I don't think this cat-and-mouse game will ever stop, not until some form of traffic policing code of conduct is adequately defined, spelled out, cut and dry, black and white...etc. Until then, we'll have to contend with profiling and the subjectiveness of it all. I've met some pretty dense cops but also some clever ones. That of course applies to decent and not-so-decent drivers as well. It quickly turns into a problem when these different types of cops and drivers criss-cross and the dynamics of the situation can change dramatically. I'm always concerned about situations where I may not necessarily be dressed for work and happen to hop in the 7 and an ill-informed cop decides to stop me purely based on profiling.

Maybe it was the Grammer/ Punctuation Police and the more secretive "Run On Sentence" Police after you for being such an obvious and blatent offender.
I feel so out of touch with society sometimes.

Actually, we are rapidly heading towards a lower threshold of acceptable grammar etc because of cell phone texting. There have been a few Canadian colleges and one university so far (that I know of) that are now accepting "creative spelling etc" and short forms such as IMHO on their final exams.
Just wanted to add my two cents for this particular tangent.
As for the actual topic of this thread... Proctor, remember our trip back from Bass Pro shop? I should have asked to speak with the supervisor. Though I wonder where that would have gotten us considering the "blitz mode" that they were in that night.

And back to the topic - "blitz mode"? So the cops were trying to hit as fast and hard as possible? Requesting a supe might be a good way to get bypassed if they don't want to get bogged down. Or maybe it would just **** them off and lead to closer scrutiny, while they waited.

"Son do you know what I'm stoppin' you for?"

That is because the police will not hassle you in your big fancy Jaguar. The police are after the young guns who don't have the money to fight tickets or stupid fines.
